Hey guys, I am right in the middle of doing the JMod to my car, I need help on wich spring is correct to remove for the 1-2 accumulator. I pull the very fron piston and theres two springs. The directions say the larger yellow one but the larger one is green and the smaller is yellow. Am I supposed to pull the middle one out??? I also pulled the rear piston for the 2-3 spring, this one had no snap ring in it is this the correct one to pull? Guys I need help ASAP!!!!

If you pulled the O/D servo, make sure the band is properly engaged. You'll know if you don't have O/D when you run it again!

I just had the whole thing come out and called Darrin who graciously returned my call to inform me that the yellow (shorter one) is the one to remove....the green one goes above the piston!! Be careful reinstalling the piston as the edge of the bore is very sharp and will cut the rubber seals!!

I'd be interested in your results as mine is pretty darn harsh above 3000 RPM's on the 1-2 shift!!!:argue: Haven't gone WOT yet but probably will tomorrow if it ain't raining!!:D

Zack; Send me your email address, and I'll send you a complete breakdown for your 1-2 and 2-3 accumulator. I read your post on that, so I took 12 pages out of my Ford Motor Company Service Manual DVD, and transfered them to My Pictures. Send it to ( Miked1955@comcast.net ), and I'll email them back to you. There's 2 pages each, on the 1-2 and 2-3 accumulator, and 8 pages on the Main Control Valve Body-Disassembled View alone. I hope it helps you out, Mike. ( ITLRUN ) By the way, if you have a picture of the LX I would like to see it, and asking price, thanks Mike.:run:

Just to add an update and my endorsement of the J-Mod (like it is needed), but we have 108,000 miles in 4 yrs on a 300A and it still barks the tires on the 1-2 shift and hard on the 2-3. OD is still crips. My nephew has 168,000 miles and 4 years on his '98 CVPI and it still feels the same as it did the day we did the mods. 15K on the 300A, and at rebuild on the '98.
