Do the 03 & 04 mrdrs use the same cd changer? The reason I ask is that my cd changer cartridge was missing when I bought my 04 last year & i just purchased one off of ebay that was advertised as being from an 03 & it does not fit the changer. I'm thinking it's not correct for either & by the way, it is also different than the one in my 02 crown vic. Here is the part # off of it - YL1F-18C833-AB.

Go to a local stereo shop and see if they have one. If they do it will be less money and they will check to see if it fits for you. We get used cartridges out of junk changers. It needs to be one of the small guys as Best buy and Circuit will not help you. The changers are not made by Ford. I think they are Alpine. Good luck!

I got a replacement CD carrier for $30 from http://www.radiosandmore.com. The changer can vary even within the same year, so be sure you copy the model # correctly.

For Marauders, they are all the same. No doubt, no hesitation. All the same. They are Alpine.

Someone PLEASE go to a small time Alpine stereo dealer and work with them to find the cartridge and give us the Alpine number. It will likely be from an older Alpine x-er

I'd have done this a long time ago if I A) had a changer and B) had an Alpine dealer nearby!

John would have done it if he carried Alpine.

The cartridges, carrier mechanisms, etc (the guts) of the changer are that of the manufacturer and are typically not different from OEM to box retail. We know the system is Alpine. We know Alpine is world renowned for changer quality. The possibility of the cartridge being different from a retail available cartridge is minuscule.

Someone do the leg work, PLEASE!!!!

If you can get me the part number from Alpine I have a source for them. You guys would not spend anymore money if you went straight to the Alpine dealer and bought them because of shipping costs.

Guaranteed it would cost less and be less of a hassle than OEM from a FLM dealer!!!!

I don't think it's a DTR thing, mine was purchased new and it came with the changer. As I look at the cartridge in my hand it so CHEAPLY MADE, that any mishap would render it no good. Great if you want to make money on a disposable item that gets plenty of use.

Over the past two months Marauder wheels have been stolen (mine included) and Ford never thought to put wheel locks on them as standard equipment. Companys now cut corners for profit at the consumer expense.

Wonder how much these things cost to replace?

Yes, I took it right off the my cartridge. 3FIT-18C833-AB... Remember we're talking about an Alpine system, used in a ford product.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. But what was asked for was an *ALPINE* part number.

"Just because it's alpine doesn't really mean anything. Nothing int he aftermarket world (including alpine) interfaces with our system. We can't even find a CD magazine for the changer!"

The above was posted in another thread.

That's funny, mine is clearly labeled PRODUCED BY CLARION. I know it's a factory unit because the one I have is identical to the original one my dealer replaced under warranty last year and the same carrier fits in it.

The make and model # are on a sticker on the side of the unit. Remove the trunk liner material and you'll see it. The LM dealer wanted over 100 bucks for a replacement, but I got one from http://www.radiosandmore.com for $30 + $6 shipping and it came DHL overnight! The carrier I received even has the Ford part number on it.

Even if yours is an Alpine, radiosandmore carries replacements for all makes.

Just ordered extra cartridges so I could "theme" music for long trips - i.e. all six Van Halen albums, southern rock, Morrisey (for the wife!!), kids music. $25 plus $6 s&h or FREE w/ order of $100.

NOTE: This site is just so rich in subject matter and very well indexed by Google.
