Edit: I just noticed the screw was just at the bottom of the box. So if anything people can find this thread to know that the screw at the back of the head unit is for support.

It's supposed to support the back of the unit. You should see a receptical(?) at the rear of the radio cavity.

I got my new head unit from Natehawk today and it works GREAT!! But I noticed there was something different between the two.
Mine that does not work had this screw in the back of it with a rubber cap on it. After I saw that the new head unit worked fine I put my old one back in with the screw removed and it sounded a little better but still not as good as the one I just got. Was this screw something left in there by Ford? Does it serve any kind of purpose and should I swap it on to the back of my new head unit?

I meant to tell you that the screw you are talking about was in the box I had to take it off to get the radio to fit in the box nice and snug.
