I spent a fair amount of time searching the Garage forum to undertsand the most popular exhaust system. Is it SS, Magnaflow, ..., ? I realize the question is one of taste. I am getting ready to purchase an exhaust system and hoped to learn the top 1 or 2 choices most Marauder owners select.
Thanks

What most purchased is an evolution of what's available and at what price;
Ford Shorty Headers - shim engine, not port matched
Cobra Manifolds - port matched but less perf than headers
KOOKS Mid Headers - good perf, difficult install
SW Long Headers - good perf.
From the above back many have gone w/ a Bassani X pipe and either stock or Magnaflow mufflers.
I went w/ the Cobra Mani, ~15/~15 HP-TQ, Basani X pipe and OEM mufflers. At idle a ~3 DB difference.

Is the 15 hp and torque N/A or S/C and was that proven on a dyno? and the manifolds were done at the same time with the bassani X pipe?
thanks, Alex

Your email was very well written with comparison information and true user experience shared. I appreciate the input.

I have the Cobra kit and noticed better performance, no before or after dyno though. Bunny/RF have the Cobra kit on #61.

Well I dont have any dyno proof but I do have track proof and it seems to me that before you spend a lot on headers that maybe you should use 2 high flow cats and any muffler of your choice. With only that being done I have ran an unofficial 14.2. It is unofficial bc the track personnel forget to reset the lights and legt the dial in from the previous run before mine and Pat and I broke at the same time but I got a red. I had to guesstimate a 14.2 since Pat got a 13.8 and wasnt even 1/2 hood in front of me. Thats my 2cents worth!

Thank you everyone for the replies. I am in awe at the competency, thoroughness and accuracy of the information some post - no matter the subject.
Regarding exhaust systems (types and benefits), I found comparison articles, dyno data (before and after), owners of more than one type and their review, ......., and on and on.
What a great group!
Sincerely,

Do the Cobra manifolds just bolt on, or are the collectors in different locations?

Cobra manifolds just bolt on.
They do not match the MM H pipe.
They do not match the EGR Tube on the MM, you need an adapator.

I did Kooks headers, cats, x-pipe, and Magnaflows (also from Kooks). I don't have any before and after dyno numbers, but the exhaust mod alone was worth .5 (at least) seconds in the 1/4. Read that a consistant .5 sec, sometimes it was better. On the dyno, with all my mods, I'm making 299.7 hp at the wheels (there's more in there, but I've always thought aluminum gernades were very uncool).
