Hello fellows, I was wondering what if there is anything i can do to my air intake system i.e. does anyone make a cold air kit, can i get a different filter and does it change performance any? also , on the air intake tube there is that J shaped thing off the right side of the tube and im wondering what the hell it does. thanks, Dave.

Dave the Marauder intake is about as good as it gets. The best mod to make would be a cold air box. Vendors claim to be working on one but I am not aware of anyone having it as yet. The J tube you talk about is actually a tuned resonator that is there for noise reduction on heavy applications of throttle. A few people on the board here have removed the tube and clamped sewer pipe plugs and even peanut butter lids there. I doubt there is any performance improvement but the resulting noise could be cool. :D If you decide to do this make sure you get an airtight seal here and that the plug is tight. Any air leak here bypasses the filter and all the dirt and crud go right into the intake. I am personally waiting on a cool box from someone before I make any mod to the intake.

Has anyone taken off their J tube and if so how does it sound? Thanks.

I've removed mine, and frankly I don't really notice much difference, but I rarely have the need to go WOT...as WolfeBros said, it doesn't make ANY difference for performance, only a slight audible difference...
Look in the FAQ for the article on how to remove it...
As far as the intake itself, again WolfeBros is right on the money...Ford has said that it is one of the lowest restriction intakes they've ever put on a car...a few members have installed K&N filters, but it hasn't been proven that they provide any increase in performance in this application, either...
In other words, Dave, there ain't much you can do yet that will provide any worthwhile improvement...

What about a bigger throttle body?

Once again, without other mods like a blower or ported heads, etc, a bigger TB will just reduce the resolution of the control signal to the ECM...the twin 57 mm TB on the MM is plenty big enough for most N/A applications...I believe there was a thread about that a while back...

I dunno about all that... From what RC told me, Dennis was looking at making a twin 62mm, as was I considering the one that's already out by BBK. Only thing is, I'm not sure if I can flip it over sucessfully with the linkage. We shall see... I do have a C&L 85mm MAF in the mail right now that comes with a K&N cone fitler and shroud. The shroud will have to be modified to fit if I don't find a way to use the old air box. I wanted the upper tube from either DR or KB, but haven't really gotten with any of them to talk about it. KB offered it to me, but the price was a bit high...
As far as the silencer goes, I can say I noticed a SLIGHT increase in throttle response, but maybe it's just a mental thing... who knows... I do like the sucky sucky sound though... (no comments please...) :D

Hey everyone. Just came upon this site today...(awesome!). I picked up my K&N filter today for my 03 Marauder. Noticed a little bit of change in perf but not a lot of lower end power. Hehe...also threw in a Tornado. The gas saving/hp increasing thing. I only put it in hoping to get more hp. I've been online looking for a cold air intake for this baby. Still haven't found anything. Maybe dual 3 inch pipes sticking out of the front spoiler? Dunno what to do.

Take the Tornado and use it as a hood ornament...you will get the exact same performance increase.

Shawn welcome to our board. If you think that tornado will help you increase hp then you got here just in the nick of time. Hang with us, read alot of the older posts and ask all the questions you want. We can and want to help. In the meantime......I can tell you that the tornado was named that because it does really SUCK. Again welcome.

I THINK a lightning TB would bolt right on.The Mustang Cobra has the linkage flipped.I'll be looking for a stock take off in Dallas.
