Wow, what a beauty, I just can't decide whether to get red or black for myself. And when did you replace the coil covers, cause aren't the stock ones black?

Coil covers were natural aluminum in 2004 as was the cam covers. Cam covers were black in 2003.

That thing in the first picture is a cap they put on the fuel rail. An assembler removes it before connecting it to the fuel line and it is supposed to drop to the ground. Your's didn't quite make it to the ground.
Whew! Glad you cleared that up CarFixer. It looks like an evil red hot poker thingy.

My JLT kit arrives 1/03/08. I am interested in knowing how long to install the part. Also, how difficult was it to install?

Difficult? Absolutely not. How long? 20 minutes at best.

Have this handy when you do the CAI

its out you may as well give it a cleaning...

Very easy to install, save your old parts.
I used a small "L" bracket to hold up the assembly at the junction of the air cleaner and MAF adapter. Just a precaution, cause the motor stops if the assembly slips off the TB for any reason.
Install time less than an hour.

Look closely at the lower left of the picture and you will notice a small aluminum bracket with a hole showing. That's the bottom of the "L". It's attached to the existing stud from the stock air cleaner installation and the upright side is bolted to the JLT adapter between the aircleaner and the MAF. I used a slightly longer bolt than supplied with the kit. Cost = 50 cents.
You don't "need" this support, I just felt it necessary because of an incident I had.
BTW ford or auto parts stores sell plugs for that ugly hole in the plastic inner fender shield.

Where did you get your heat shield cause I really like instead of the plastic kind. If I had the time I would of just bent some aluminum sheet metal to enclose the whole area which I'll probably end up doing one day.

You can use CRC Electronics Cleaner (cheaper by like a buck or so) or MAFS Cleaner.

Mine sits pretty far away from that rubber stop to attach a bracket to. Yes I know it's dirty, it's been about a month since I last cleaned it and it's getting a freshing this weekend.

You've spent more time under the hood then behind the wheel (but with no drivers license, that's to be expected). I'm really beginging to dislike you ;).

Santa brought me one, along with a remote display for my V1. I installed the JLT the day before yesterday in about half an hour. My SOTP meter notices a little difference but my ears notice a BIG difference! :D
Maybe next year he'll bring me a gift certificate to get my gears installed.

You had a rubber band also? lol I cut mine the minute I saw it when put in my K&N drop-in filter the 2nd day I had the car. Thought to myself "hmm that's not suppose to be there".

Rubber bands are common and are always in obscure places. I have one on my bottom radiator hose and another on one of my rear seat belts. I would venture to guess that during assembly, the line workers had something that came wrapped in the bands and would just stick them on the car somewhere to save time instead of throwing them in the trash.
You should have left it alone. It adds value. :D
