Does anyone know if it would be advantageous to have clear coat sprayed on the Marauder.

I comletely detailed and I noticed only 3 imperfections, but the paint apperas to be soft/thin.

Can additional layers of clear coat be applied? Would it be advantageous to have this done while the car is farily new?

The thin paint will show regardless of the number of clear coats applied. The panels with the thin paint must have base coat (color) and then clearcoat. IMHO.:(

Sounds like a mis-build? and maybe a warranty issue? my paint is slick all over with only minor imperfections thank the LORD!!! really hate paintwork!

the paint on mine was also very thin. i needed to re-shoot my front bumper, courtesy of local gravel truck. i went thru the stock clear and color coats in only a few passes with 320 grit.

normaly you can multiple coat most clears. it is best however to use compatible clears from the same manufacturer, Dupont, PPG etc.

i'm not so sure the clear on my car would have been sufficiently thick to remove the imperfections and then recoat with clear. this isn't the first comment about the paint thickness on the sight so it might be best to leave it alone unless you just can't stand it.

if you choose to repaint with black i would suggest PPG "Cadzilla" black (sorry don't know the mix number). it a black that you can fall into. i've seen it on a few cars and black just isn't black.

Thanks for the info Chuck, I've been thinking about having my MM repainted. Thanks to road hazards and ********* neighbors swinging their car doors into me. :mad2:  :argue: :censor: :nono: :fire: :uzi:

If you do choose to repaint the two most important suggestions / advice i can share are,

price does not equal quality
and
don't be in a hurry.

also get to a car show and see the PPG Cadzilla black on a car or bike. you just haven't experienced black until you've seen this.

best of luck to you

when it was in for its first oil change and detail, I thought it would come out in the detail, but it didnt. So I brought it to their attention, and they said next time its in, they would show it to the body shop manager and see if they need to repaint the car.

There is some nasty particles in the paint right above the drivers side mirror on the pilar.

and they already were going to repaint the rear bumper because it had a gouge in it when I bought it.
