I inherited the Superchips XCalibrator2 when I bought my baby from my close friend. Dumbass sold me his Marauder for a new GTO. hehehe...

Anyway, should I keep it and ask Lido for a CA, 91 octane tune? Is that possible with my unit?

Or, should I buy a new SCT tuner?

There are so many to choose from. I have no idea which one my fellow Marauder owners buy (mostly): Livewire, ST Strategy Tuner, SCT XCalibrator 2, X3 Power Flash or the SF3 Power Flash. Reinhart advertises the Livewire.

Whatever I buy, it must support CA 91 octane (friggin CA Liberals).

SCT Xcal2 worked great for me, and is very popular here.

Did the unit already come with a tune on it and is that tune already loaded into the car?

It needs to be programed for your specific PCM code.
Also has to be(programmed) the same gear ratio as your car.

First off, no knock against any vendor here. This answer is simply fitting a problem to a solution...

First download and install Livelink to you computer. This will interface the Xcal to your PC.

Next, Contact Dennis Reinhart. He'll work with you and your current mods and PCM code and 91 octane gas and EMAIL you a tune.

Then, load the tune into your xcal.

Finally, load the tune to your car.

'Alternatively' you could ship the xcal to Lidio. He requires shipping and doesn't email tunes (at least as far as I know).

Both would charge a small amount for their service, but would be well worth it. Both have quite fine tunes for your car.

In this particular case, I think DR might be the quicker and easier route for you.

But I was instructed to send the unit back to Lido for a tune.

I installed the Metal Matrix drive shaft and 4.10 gears. I believe this is the reason my buddy instructed me to send the unit back to Lido for a re-tune. I still wonder if the tuner I have offer a fuel map specifically for CA 91 octane.

But, is Lido a better tune? Or between Lido and Reinhart, is the difference negligible?

Different flavors of ice cream. Both chocolate and strawberry are much more fun than plain vanilla! Both Lidio and Dennis tune flavors are excellent and you will enjoy either one.

That is the best PC answer I have seen in a while.

Thank you. Working in local govt for over 16 years has conditioned me that way whether I like it or not. :))
