Architect

Back in January of 2004..."Marauder" posted a tread that asked..."Who's got the highest mileage on their Marauder?"...
Well it's been 4 years......so I think it's about time to ask again...:D
"WHO'S GOT THE MOST MILEAGE ON THEIR MARAUDER...?"
I've got 38,000 on my 2004...

What oil, how often between trans service, axle service, radiator flushes, any preventative maintenance, anything major replaced (engine, trans, etc.) Give us some advice! I don't have a Marauder (yet) but when I get one- I want to drive it forever... :burnout:

I went 95K with 186 races. 53+k were S/C.

Had I not ignored/misdiagnosed a CEL I think it would have gone another year.

I assumed the lean left bank was an oxy sensor but I know beleive the fuel pumps were going out.

3K Ford Oil Changes. 15-20K Tranny fluid changes. The tranny was built, had 70+K on it and when they opened it yp it was in great shape.

I have a good ear, so I hear everything(ask my 13 year old son- Mom hears all). Motorcraft blended oil every 3,000 w/wix filter, trany every 20,000. just common sense. Drive the car the way she should be driven. Just for fun I do wash her once a week.
I have put in a radiator and fan, and she is on her 3rd set of gears.
I try to follow the owners guide.

I'm just a pretender at 177,xxx, but here's how I keep it. Oil at every 5K, just the motorcraft OEM stuff. Tranny service, twice what's reccomended. Do a burnout in at least 37 states. Do at least a burnout a week. Try to hit 100 once a day. Finally, amass upwards of 350 time slips. This has worked well for me.

I for one. Sucked an exhaust valve seat two weeks ago at 115K.
I blame it on the poor cooling design. Not sure if it's true, but seats on Fords generally only fall if the heads get real hot, so, it's a theory...

I'm installing the evenflowcooling.com fix.

Noisy valvetrains are another difference. It's been said the cams aren't properly torqued at the factory. Driver's side seems more prone. Mine ticks/taps. Going to have that retorqued while it's in the shop.

Can't think of much else to say:confused:

A few minor repairs, generally in the > $1,000 range for replacing leaking seals or replacing a part that has failed. No major rebuild or internals problems.

Our early build 300A (June 2002) just hit 220,000. Both rear axles replaced under warranty at 10K miles. The trans had the J-Mod at 10K miles and will still bark the tires on the 1-2 shift and the other shifts and Overdrive band come on and off solid. Trans fluid/filter changed at 100K miles and new plugs at 100K miles. The #6 cylinder gets an intermittant miss(new plug and COP) and the compression is lowest of all the others, but still runs good and no "check engine" light, so we'll keep going. Have changed the IAC valve every 60K miles and the EGR every 100K (EGR change alone is amazing for the way it runs, mabe thinking about doing it every 60K miles now). Coolant and brake system flushed at 100K miles. One belt tensioner and idler pulley and a few belts and that's it.

Oil changes every 3K miles (Ford semi-synthetic) and air filter every 9K miles. Fuel filter every 40K miles.

She runs the wizz out of it every day and still gets 19-20 MPG mix of city/highway driving.

Overall, MM's are the best cars I have ever owned. Guess that's why we have four of them...

Hit my 193k today... (Wish it was on my way back from MV10, maybe next year :()

If anyone drives in the winter like I do, check out the metal behind the side skirts- I just found some wicked rust on mine. Ive been keeping up on the frame and underbody with Eastwood's best chasis paint, but I had no idea this spot was such a rust catcher.

Other than that, still no big issues:
-Replaced the air pump
-Replaced air suspension bags
-Driver's side lock not working
-A/C and heater issues
-Steering components replaced

My DD has over 156,000 miles, over 250 passes and I have gone 11.5 in the 1/4.:D

I drive it all over the Gulf South. Tommorrow I headed to the Lafourche and Terrebonne Parishes. I will drive over Bayou Blue!
