As many if not all the Windy City Boys know, I got my car back (more later) I have only one issue, and it's not with the engine. When the talented monkeys at my dealership ripped everything apart, Somewhere somehow I lost power to all the items in the steering wheele.
Horn
Radio controls
Cruise Control
Airbag sensor (lite is one)
But my hazards, turn signals, and wipers (all Coloum based) work. SO I need to know what and where the common power and or ground is.
Thanks ahead of time

Does your airbag still work? ;)
Kidding... sort of... there is an airbag sliding contact that kills power to the controls on the steering wheel. Since your horn is dead too, I doubt it would be the ground since the Airbag system grounds elsewhere. Nonetheless, the ground for the items you mentioned is in the driver's footwell, with what looks like 3 wires grounding at that point (G201).
I think it's the airbag sliding contact, though.
There is a connector that links to the airbag sliding switch. It's under the dash in what looks like the vicinity of the steering column. There should be a cluster of these connectors, right by the lighting control module. It's a wide flat connector with 8 pins/slots, but only 7 are used.
You might want to have someone else look at that circuit... I'm not a big fan of playing with airbag related wiring myself. Airbags should still be warranted, I don't see a reason why a safety related item like this would be affected by an engine rebuild.

Thanks for the fast response. I will be asking for a ford Tech to look at it, but i was hoping it was an easy.

Good answer TTA, thanks for stepping up. I agree that Mad should be able to return to his dealer for other warranty issues. He paid his dues, redlining the whole car would be more than unfair.

I agree. The engine may no longer be warrantied but everything else should be, especially what they messed up

From what I understand of the condition the dealer left MAD's car and engine in, I'm not sure he would WANT them to EVER work on his car again...

This was posted to my engire by ford tech type. How does it sound?
All the controls that are on the steering wheel are connected through a device called a clock spring which allows your steering wheel to turn and give a constant connection to the controls and your airbag. I'm don't know what your car was being serviced for, but if it involved removing the steering wheel or disconecting the steering shaft I would suspect they broke this clock-spring. What typically happens is while the steering shaft is disconnected somebody will give the steering wheel a spin which breaks the clock-spring (it is only designed to give you the normal range of steering wheel rotations). Be aware that with a broken clock spring your airbag will not go off in an accident.

That's the airbag sliding contact I was referring to.

The tech is probably correct. If they disconnected your steering shaft linkage, some one may have been "playing" and spun the steering wheel.

Well that sucks... but I can tell you one thing, I doubt you'll be able to have it repaired at another dealership. Here's why...
When my cousel went in, they were supposed to replace a piece of it. Well, instead, I think they went behind my back and had a vynal man touch it up. Well, I caught this when I picked the car up. So, he "ordered" another piece... Well, I told him to baisically screw off and went to another dealership. While the dealership helped me out with my other problems, they couldn't touch the cousel because it was broken by another dealership, therefore would loose money on warranty work for someone elses error, not the factory's... Just FYI...

How easy/hard is it to replace? can it be done in my driveway, or should I fight the shop to make them do it?
