For anyone that knows JoeWalsh he is a resident to MD just as I am. We were both at the local drag strip for a Sunday Test & Tune and I recored his runs with my own camera and now some idiots are trying to claim that this material is infringing.

Anyone who knows about legal stuff can you chime in? I asume if I get anymore notices then my videos will be removed and my youtube account will be closed. Some of the videos I have on there I no longer have the original video of which would really :mad2: me off if my account gets closed.

Have you spoken to Joe? He might have claimed infringment because the videos contain him..... although that seems awfully shady and not like anyone on this forum.

you do leaglly own the rights because the videos were taken with your camera.

the only other scenario i could think of would be that the drag strip in which they were taken either A: no longer allows cameras, resulting in them wanting videos of their strip taken down, or B: they are claiming rights to it because it was taken at their track

The videos were taken on 11/19/2006.
JoeWalsh, merc6, 2ndMDrebal and my friend Matt were all present there that day and I have videos of all 4 of them and videos of myself racing. This is going to have me steaming until I get it figured out.

Ask YouTube who claimed video rights and let them know that the videos were taken with your camera and you have witnessess.... if you want to take it that far

To do that I have to file some counter claim. I already downloaded and printed "The Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998" which I got the link from youtube.

That's another reason why I am ticked because you did two back to back 12.99 runs which I was amazed by. I know you asked me to take a second video to see if both tires were turning in the waterbox and if you were spinning off the line.

I am going to try find some video editing software that will allow me to do watermarks and I am going upload the videos again.

If you use Firefox, go get this add-on. Fast Video Download (http://rpocc.livejournal.com/43565.html) It will allow you to download youtube videos and any other videos online onto your hard drive. It works great. I also found some add-ons for windows media player to play flv files, which youtube uses. I can't remember where I got those add-ons. The videos look better on WMP than on youtube.

I suspect that the law firm of KHB & P just cast a very wide net to capture videos of a certain types using a search program or spider/worm. Maybe this is related to the music industry videos and they have their Joe Walsh's screwed up. This ain't Joe Walsh from the band. It's Joe Walsh from the Marauder.Net race team. KHP&B need to know that. Maybe they represent "the other" Joe Walsh. :dunno:

Maybe our Joe Walsh should file a counter-suit that the music guy is infringing on the use of his name. ;)

Easiest solution is to change the file title to some like "Marauder JoeW at CR" and reload them. :D

Sounds like "law firm to the stars" uses the internet to try and drum up business. "Joe Walsh" the recording artist didn't occur to me until mentioned above. Try posting the next one as "Pat Benatar Run number 3" and see if you get the same response. ;) Creative Evility, that's my motto. I suspect it was sent by an automated program that scours youtube and other such sites to protect stars copyright rights. However, IIRC that initially recording artists did NOT want their songs played on the radio in the early days. I would want ALL my stuff on youtube freely accessible.

You sure its not a fake email? I used to send out gags like that to my friends who downloaded music. It would say thatt they downloaded a song that was traced to their account and they are going to be facing a lawsuit for copyrighted material.
I never heard of Youtube closing a account for a track event. I even have a few vids where I used music and I never recieved a email so I would suspect its a gag.

If it was a gag then the videos wouldn't have been removed off my youtube account because they were. I had kind of thought that also.

I went through all my videos and added a copyright in the description of who recorded and owns the video. Sad that I have to do that.

But, then Joe you will need to provide documents to the fact that your name is really 'Joe Walsh' and then they will be able to track your legal status as a US citizens. Which in turn could effect your recent marriage.
