All,

I was driving home from work Wednesday evening when the Check Engine light came on. When I got home, I checked the engine and it was still there. Fluids were fine but the JLT zip tube had come away from the throttle body. I put it back to where it should be and re-tightened the clamp. The next day the check engine light was still on so I called the dealer. They told me that it usually takes a couple of drives before the light will clear once somthing like that has been fixed. Well, it's been seven or eight drives and the light is still on. I do have the SCT tune applied as well as the JLT CAI, but no other mods (yet). Any thoughts on what else I can check before spending $60+ at the dealer to find out why the light is on?

Thanks,
Erich

I think that you need to drive 300 miles or so to clear the CEL. You mentioned you have a tune, do you have a handheld unit? You can use that to check and/or clear your check engine light. Outside of that, you can go to the local auto parts store and they can check the code for free.

If you have a Xcal 2 there is no need to pay 60.00 the xcal 2 will read and reset the codes

Disconnect the negative terminal of your battery for 5 minutes....re-connect and it will re-set the "Adaptive Learning" and the "CEL"!!

There is a separate light for that, IIRC

You can reinstall your tune to clear the code if you cant figure out how to clear the light going through the handheld.

That is good to know all other modern cars have the check engine light come on if you don't tighten your gas cap.

He didn't ask what code.....he wanted the CEL out....so I told him how Dennis!!!

If he is interested in the code he can get AutoZone to read it for him since he doesn't have a tuner to read it!!

At this rate I may have to market my idea on e-bay, Ha. I had the same problem some time back.

I checked the message with the SCT tuner and it read "System too lean 2". Would this be the effect of the zip tube coming away from the throttle body?

I did clear the message. I'll wait to see if it comes up again.

Yeah, No air is being pulled through the MAF so your pcm can't adjust.
