After spending a week trying to look busy at work, knowing that I would be unemployed come Monday anyway, I left Washington DC via Amtrak. A nice, civilized way to travel if your not in a hurry. Sleeping accommodations were on the tiny size, to the point that I had to leave the room to change my mind.
Anyway spending a les then restful night in this coffin, I arrive at South Bend, Indiana and meet Mac and his friend. They were on time; it was the train that was late. Go figure. After a short visit to a local eatery for breakfast and coffee, it was on the road to Lansing!! Mac asked if I had heard weather or not the car was ready or not, and it was decided to call VT and just make sure. Sure enough, it was. The trip was very pleasant and even though I was just meeting him for the first time, it didn’t feel like it. It was more like old friends that hadn’t seen each other in years and were just catching up.
As we aproched the building that houses VT Engines, I’m looking and trying to see my car, when Mac pipes up, “There it is.”
Parked across the parking spaces, displayed for me to see as I come in is my car. Tail up, chrome gleaming in the bright sun, and far cleaner then when I last saw it being loaded onto the truck. Mac pulls up and parks his about three feet in front, nose to nose, and I managed to open the door before exiting the vehicle. The first thing I did was just walk around it and take it all in. They had even wiped down the leather and treated it. WOW!! I popped the trunk, and even though the last time I saw it, it was filled with all the parts from the engine, it was as clean as I had first dropped it off at the dealer. I opened the hood, and it was all back together. Nothing out of place, and everything in its place.
We knocked on the door, and were promptly let in. We were taken on a tour of the shop, and it was impressive. The had one of the Super Charged Marauders there ready for delivery, and of course, we carded it. In the engine dyno room was a chevy small block from a camaro, and in the back room was a Mustang that kissed a wall at the modular Shootout a couple of weeks ago. Tough way to get business.
After writing a check for less then I thought, always good. I took position of the keys. A great day it was. We all went out, and for the first time in 5 months, I slid behind the wheel, placed the key in the ignition, and held my breath and turned the key…

I'm glad you've got the car back, and I was real glad Sunday when she got over the glitch and turned some high revs. I hope your trip back home was exciting but uneventful. It was a pleasure meeting you and Mrs.Mad-3R .

Congrats, Mad! Glad it worked out.
Wow, I know it’s nice to be back in the saddle again. You know I am tired of representing my Marauder in local club events and being the only one. Sure would like to see you and your car. Route 28 would be a better place now that we control the West and East sides again.
