Someone asked for dyno results and here they are for my stone stock MM. Baseline=239HP/248Torque. After Jerry was turned loose=258HP/297Torque. Pretty impressive improvements for not turning a wrench. Thanks Mac for setting this occasion up. It was great to see all the MM's and hang out with a bunch of nice guys.

I had similar numbers for mine as well,, they didn't give me a baseline,, but I had 259HP and 294 torque. Jerry has MAGIC fingers

I wanted to go to this badly but could not make it yesterday. Maybe we can get one set up in the Midwest again soon.

Grats to all who attending and are now experiencing what a properly tuned machine can do.

Jerry has MAGIC fingers

Kinda reminds me of that 'Heart' song: "Try, try, try to understand... He's a MAGIC MAN... He's got the magic hands"

Anyways...

That 239HP stock is pretty good compared to the stock '96 Impala SS dyno'd on Horse Power TV at 210.7 HP

Maybe I could get the Carolina boys for a trip to Alt--I would surely be in for it--with those numbers on a stock--it would definitely be magic on my MM --I can't imagiane what mine would be like but WANT IT BADLY---

Carolina MM'ers: If your interested let me or Todd know---At least we can maybe get some numbers together to maybe get Jerry interested---we ALL NEED THIS!!!!!

Um....how do I get this magic finger guy to work over my car? Did he flash the ecm with new programming or what?

At this point, after tuning the number of marauders that he has, Jerry can probably do a very good chip by mail. That is, provided your car does not deviate much from stock.

just flashing the chip will be a noticable improvement, but to have it dyno'ed is the ultimate, but half a loaf is is WAY better than none!!!!:)

amerikan: I'd contact JBA performance in San Diego. That's where my car is at right now and Jerry's been there around 4 times in the last 2 years if I remember correctly.

PM me for more information

So, what does Jerry charge for his touch? Does the PCM retain these tweaks or can the dealer's guys do a reflash and wipe out the tune?

Thanks.

I finally got a chance to drive my Marauder today after my son took it to the dyno tune for me. It feels like a different car. More power and better shifts. Alternator off at WOT (my sons idea). It was money well spent.
I just had the PCM flashed, no chip. Not obvious to dealer that way.
My car was 242.3 hp/247.9 torque before, and 259.9hp/296.8 after the tune. Incredible they can do with software.
I would like to thank SgtMac for setting this up and everyone who was there at the tune for being so nice to my son.
Might be wrong but after the tune I'm 20% better looking too.

274rwhp/312rwtq. Jerry said hed be back in chicago in late august or on labor day weekend. Check midwestfords.org, he posts there frequently. His handle is FastOlds.

Dealers can wipe out a tune. I had a chip for my original computer. Took the car in for a normal service and removed my chip. They reflashed the computer making the chip worthless.

Needless to say, that sucked, but I learned my lesson. I bought another computer and had that burned. When I go in for warranty work, I just swap it out...

Anyway we can get a guy like this on the east coast? I would kill for those kind of numbers.

I dont know if this has already been asked but ARE there any tuners of this quality on the east coast? looks like I am in for a drive if I want to get any work done.

It's possible, but since Jerry was "The Man" who did all the development of the Marauder tuning, it's doubtful you'll find anyone with his experience and direct factory knowledge of this car...you don't say where on the east coast you are, but if you're near Florida, Dennis can probably hook you up...

Also, I think they are trying to put another day together in Worcester, MA, if there is enough interest.

I am some what confused about this super tune. This is to work with a stock Marauder or a "hopped up" one. Right? Just how much Hp and Trq does this add to Marauders with Dennis' chip? And why doesn't Dennis add these tweaks to his own chip? Can anyone say UPDATE!

Smokie

GodOSpeed : This is not intended to speak for Dennis but I may be of some help by relating my experience. I had my stock MM. prorammed or fine tuned by Dennis, no chip involved; is done with a laptop and what I believe to be some type of adapter hardware that plugs into the PCM port. There are more than one program or files and it matters if you have gears or not, s/c or n/a Im not able to provide numbers because no dyno was used, I can tell you that it works and I am satisfied, how the dyno-tuning described above works I don't know I can only guess that it involves a before dyno run to establish a baseline then programming and a second dyno run to document results (this is only my opinion) I am sure if you contact Dennis he will explain better and provide more factual info. :D

^^^what Smokie said^^^ basically...

God:

There are many variables that can't be accounted for by remote control, such as quality of fuel, normal factory tolerances, etc...so let's say on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the best performance your car will make, if a chip (or Mr. Cole's Superchips Programmer) gets you to 9, the dyno-tune brings it up to 10...because it's done in real-time, on a chassis dynamometer, Jerry can fine-tune the parameters to best fit your specific car's needs...if you DON'T already have a chip, then the dyno-tune brings you right to 10.

GodOSpeed
08-06-2003, 10:22 AM
What exactly are you trying to say Cole?

GodOSpeed
08-06-2003, 10:36 AM
Hey RF! So what you are telling me is that my chip is basicily useless after the tune right? Whatever the manufacture of the chip. I get the 'real time' aspect of this but what I was trying to say is that after all of the Marauders that have been "dyno tuned" why can't these guys put together a 'updated' chip with all of these new values stored in it? If you want to talk about a millon miles away from anywhere... I am there.

Anyone know where I can get this done in the Twin Cities? I called around a little today and none of the Speed shops were familiar with the car. They all wanted to know if it had a stand alone PCM and said a chip was the only way to go. Obviously, they just don't know the car and I didn't know enough to educate them...

Thanks !

As for the aftermarket chip question, the guys that had them were taking them out for the tune and getting the tune flashed onto the factory pcm which basically made their chip useless at that point if the tune gave them better numbers than the chip. In other words you dont need a chip if you get your tune on the dyno. Unless of course you let your service manager reflash you at which point you are back to square 1

I found it better to flash the chip...if there is EVER a concern...pull the chip and your diagnostics are on the stock PCM...JMHO.

Your right about that RF, there were several cars at Sunday's Power Tune that had the knock sensors kicking in because of poor fuel quality.

Wow!! I just got time to take my new Marauder out for some pavement beating!!Well it's not new But after that super tune it sure act's new.The shifts are faster ,more powerful and smoother and damn the car is much faster than before.
I don't know if the denso's did anything for my results, being that I'm stock.but the flash delivers a lot of HORSEPOWER for the dollar.

I've written the Ford Chip guys and let them know I'm interested, but it seems their schedule isn't set too far in advance. If anyone hears they're coming to Atlanta, Jacksonville, or anywhere else in the SE, please drop a note!

Hey Merc, I put the Motorcraft AWSFA-12C plugs which were the plugs that Dennis originaly recommended for our cars before the Denso's. When I told Jerry which plugs I put in the first thing he said was "excellent chioce for spark plugs". With that being said, I was extremly happy with the results of my dyno-tune. Give them a try I think you'll be happy with them.
