This may seem like a dumb question: can the seats handle a 350 lb passenger without damage?
I was planning on having dinner with a friend who is rather large, but I really don't want to damage my nice car. Should I subject the Honda to his abuse instead, since I don't really care about that car as much? ;)

the foam might be alil squished for 5 minutes, but no shouldn't be a problem at all.
These cars were made for Americans, so i think thats one reason ford used the extra wide seats.

A friend is a car nut. He collects C4 Corvettes. He use to weigh 400lbs and it's not a problem.

The first thing I thought of is how shallow this dude really is for asking such a question.. Dude, you are a _________.. Tell your friend what you said here and see how long he remains your friend.. Now go do your nails..

I'm pushin 300 and sit in my seat every day. There is no apparent 'squish' difference between my driver and passenger seats. Show off you car to your friend who is in perfect shape!
A sphere is a perfect shape.

Perhaps you should try limiting your friendships to only thin people.
And you "friend" should definitely mark you off of his buddy list.
I can buy new car seats, but my true friends are completely irreplaceable.
The impression you give us with your posting such a question is that material possessions are more important to you than people.

Dumb .... Naaaah !! More like insensitive, rude, tactless, thoughtless, boorish, and ill-mannered. :P
Reminds me of a line from Finding Nemo .... "With Fronds like you. Who needs Anemonies"

I'm glad to see some of you got a kick out of my question.
As to those who thought it rude to even ask . . . All I can say is it was a legitimate concern. I have some plastic lawn chairs at my house that I would not offer to him to sit in because they would break and he would get hurt, OK? I like the guy, and you will notice I did not say anything to him about my concern. Geez . . .

As a big man, I got it. I've broken more than a few of those cheap plastic chairs, folding chairs, etc. My later suggestion was because you were getting hammered!!!!
+1 for the thick skin!!!!
To put it in perspective, If the big friend broke the MM, it would be far more embarrassing for him than being in a car that the seat would not break. Plus, he'd feel super bad about his friend's fancy car. Though it seems cruel, it's actually saving the friend's feelings.
We big folks can hammer lifespeed cuz we know the MM will hold us. Now he knows!!!!

At 290 sitting in the seat for the last 3 years has not ever been a problem. But just to be safe...feed him the Honda.

Its not a dumb question. My mother is around 400 and I've hauled her around before in my car. I hate it thou because I do feel like the seat is going to break. She did however break the seat in her old 740i. I'm 280 6" and so far so good. However who ever had my car last must of been alot bigger and leaned to one side because my drivers seat is kinda cockeyed.
Seats are freaking expensive!!! I actually have a few good friends that are 300ish that I won't let ride in my fox because I don't want them to break the corbeau seats. I had the drivers side reinforced when I re-covered it.

I too, do not see where lifespeed's question was dumb.
Hell, aren't we all over-protective of our friends and cars?
No reason to get worked up over this.
A lot of guys on this board make my 6.0' 190 lb. frame look like a Dwarf!
Makes one wonder how the seats hold up as well as they do.
Nonetheless, they do.

I seen what a Marauder seat looks like after 90K miles with a 350+ pounder at the helm.
It kinda reminded me of the flat seats they put in city buses, just instead of plastic, its leather.
If its only for dinner, you'll be fine, If you are planning to take a 3 month long cross country trip with him, then your seat will be a constant reminder of who sat there.
BTW, I have some huge friends and your jaws would drop if you heard the way we rip each other apart. I found the original question to be rather tame and a legitimate concern.

I wouldn't worry about it. I've seen alot of Big people drive Towncars for years and they are Basicly the same seats with no problems. You can replace a seat or fix a seat, but you can't always replace a friendship.

I never said the question was dumb, just shallow and pretty lame. It pretty much spelled out the type of person you are in just a few short words. Anyway I will bow out of this as to avoid any more empty comments from the gent.
