Hi guys,
Im looking for some input as to what would be the recommend remote oil fillter to use on the Marauder. I plan on using a a sandwich adapter from a canadian ford Escape the runs water from the radiator through it. I am gonna plumb it up to extract a little bit of extra heat out of my oil. Im using Braided SS lines to connect to the radiator.
Once i put on the (filter loaction mounted) sandwich type oil cooler the standard oil filter will no longer fit. I refuse to try and use a short filter so I wanna use a Remote filter setup.
Looking for advice from those already running remote oil filter setups.
i was thinking abouot ordering the candian winter package F-150 remote oil filter kit since it will probably cost less than most other kits available. But I wanna hear what everyone else's experiences are.. Pro's / Cons etc..
Mounting locations... etc...

Keep it simple. I think what you are planning is not necessary.

Nah I know it isn't necessary but I got the oil cooler for free and I have the braided SS lines. So all i need now is the remote oil filter kit and its all together....
I also got that custom oil pan made....
Ill post the pix of it in the car shortly....
It was tight to the front crossmember but we got just enought clearance...
now its perfect...

I would rather use the Mustang Cobra oil cooler, but I don't know if it would fit in a Marauder. The cooler you have is designed to use coolant out of the engine and then to the radiator. The Cobra uses return coolant after it has passed through the radiator, so it would be much cooler and would render the oil cooler more effective. Plus you would not have to plumb external coolant lines.

Do you have a picture?
I'd be interested to see what the setup looks like...
I plan to plumb this with external SS lines to the exiting side of the radiator so i get the coolest possible water.....

I don't have a good picture, but here's one on eBay:

The Cobra cooler would be the simplest and cleanest install. If it will help, I will eyeball the clearance to see if it looks like it will fit. But even if you have to use a remote filter with the Cobra cooler, this still would work better since you'd be plumbing oil lines only rather than both oil & water.

ya not sure if that would fit...
but i figure someone out there has a remote oil filter kit they've used and liked...
someone please jump in here...lol
although that is a good Ebay price...
I never liked cooling oil with engine coolant.
When I had an oil cooler on the MM for a brief time, I bought a sandwich adapter and ran the lines to a stacked plate cooler behind the grill.
Id rather cool the oil with ambient air rather than 180-200* Coolant, seems to make a bit more sense.

if i use the oil-water cooler I have and buy a simple heatexchanger i can use my old supercharger intercooler pump to move the water... (I have a bigger Lightening pump now) then I could use ambinet air temp and still have the advantage of water in the system for while im stopeed at lights... I could even put it on a simple switch to turn on and off the pump... so i can warm car up quickier in the cooler months...
ya theres alot of possibilties...
What i need if im gonna try any of them though is a good recomendation on a remote oil filter kit... Im not looking for dual oil filters or anything just a way to get my oil filter in a different location because it doesn't fit there with the cooler...

Oil to water heat exchangers are far more efficient than oil to air, so you can't compare. Coolant returning to the engine is cooler than 180 degrees.

This cooler should fit if, instead of threading on an oil filter, you thread on remote adapter. The benefits would be using return coolant out of the radiator and relocating the oil filter only.

ya and I wanna use a remote oil filter so i can use this cooler no matter how i end up plumbing it in....
i just need a remote oil filter kit suggestion.... the oil cooler and remote filter adapter should fit where the oil filter and coil cooler would not....

I got the SVO kit. Not sure if it's still available. I have straight fittings coming out of the adapter and it is a tight fit with the frame. With the cooler you've got, it would surely require angled fittings of some sort. The filter mount is installed to the frame just above the sway bar. It has to be installed just right in order to clear the sway bar and bottom radiator hose.

Sounds like an easy place to get at the filter for oil changes....
and your right... it probably would best to have a 45 or even a long 90 degree connection to oil filter adapter plate....
I still haven't had any luck....
