This probably only happens about once in 10,000 years or so ....

Seems many people decided to stay home from work today because of the impending snow and sleet and ice. Traffic was a little lighter than usual.

I made it from door to door in 22 minutes. That's a record time. Average speed 38 MPH. There are 24 traffic lights enroute and I caught EVERY ONE OF THEM GREEN. UFB !!! :D Time includes 3 stop signs (yes, all three were RED) and 2 gate checkpoints.

That is about half my normal daily commute. The bad part was that I was at work 20 minutes early.

14 miles. But in this area, people rarely refer to miles ... its the minutes or hours that matter. :o

My commute is 29 miles between Herndon, VA and Silver Spring, MD. I really can't complain today. It took 90 minutes when a dry day takes about 45-50 but there were no traffic accidents on my route. I was okay with that! The MM performed fine in the slush-snow on new OEM rears.

Traffic was moderate this morning. Hit a couple traffic lights. Broke traction a little twice getting out of the neighborhood (once on purpose :P just to check conditions).

Trip time today was 27 minutes ... 5 more than yesterday's best time of 22 minutes. Average speed 31 MPH.

I figured that the absolute best time possible (at the posted speed limits) is 20.7 minutes, no stops at all, and an overall average speed of 41 MPH. Unfortunately, that'll never happen 'cause blowing by the gate guard at 40+ MPH will result in possible delays in my schedule.

Tonight I expect the 20 MPH crawl home. :shake:

Charlie, this post reminds why I enjoy living/working in the woods. 3.75 miles driveway to driveway, usually 5 minutes.

Go homing yesterday was a nightmare, traffic was at a crawl. No more then 20mph most of the way home (I-270) from DC. Then traffic would break up for no reason and we would be able to get to 50mph for a few miles before stopping and contuining on again for 10mph. Total travel time was 90 minutes, not bad for the weather, normally about an hour.
