View Full Version : Anybody have a (working) 300A radio to sell?
I just lost my second radio to the dreaded 'station lock, lost reception' gremlin that lives in all the original 300a radios.
Does anyone have a 300a radio (no clock) to get rid of? I would be especially interested in the 'new and improved one' that eliminated the gremlins. Please PM me with whether you have an original or a new and improved one and what price you are asking.
Another idea - since I now have 2 non working radios - does anyone know exactly what to resolder to get the radio working properly again or does the problem reside within components that can't be fixed with a solder iron?
Thanks!

If I'm not mistaken they all have the clock feature but the wiring harness on your 300a doesn't activate it.....may be wrong!!??
The rebuild is around $200...call United Radio at 800-448-0944 and they will fix you up!!

:hijack: Hey now! I can have my cake and eat it too?! How can one rewire an original to have a clock! :hijack:
Maybe you'll have better luck if you post / search in parts wanted / for sale section/s

just send wire to the pin that runs the clock and volia! two clocks!
I'm happy with one, crownvic.net has instructions to activate clock on non-clock radios
Well I've been searching, but I can't find it. Can anyone who knows CrownVic.net find the thread?
JD,
I made a thread in the 'Parts Wanted' section and have not gotten any replies... Not enough traffic there IMO.
I'm still looking by the way - MarauderJack sent me a radio without head but it arrived damaged so I am still looking for a working radio.
If I can deactivate the clock, I guess any Marauder radio would work, not just one from a 300A?!?

Back in the mid 80's I worked for a speedometer shop that was Factory Authorized Delco repair. Seems all the Delco radios at some time would suffer from what we called Delco disease or the board disease,if you gave the dashboard a good whack the radio would work for awhile, then quit again. What happened was the board solders would get hot and cold so many times they'd turn brittle and finally lose contact, the fix was to just reheat ALL the solder points with a small soldering iron and they'd be good as new again.
Now I don't know if this is happening to the FOMOCO radios but there's chance it is,SO,if you have an old radio that's acting up and you don't mind taking a chance on it you might want to give it a try,but before you do try giving the dash near the radio a good whack and see if the radio works,if the radio does work you could probably give it a shot. If the resoldering (don't add any more solder to the solder points) does work and you take pics of what's involved it'd make a good sticky. But only risk it if you're prepared to lose the radio involved.

Neil,
I think your 300A wiring disables the clock if you have the In-Dash clock below the radio.....give it a try!!
Sorry about the UPS "Basketball Follies"!!!:shake:
