Approximatly how long should stock cats last?

Given the two variables:

Driven hard daily
mostly highway miles

Pretty much, if you haven't removed your rear cats, you should do so now lol.

Catalytic converters will last indefinitely IF the engine is maintained properly and in good running order!! The main killer is a very rich condition usually caused by stuck injectors or bad carb???:shake: Some CV cabs have 400K miles on OEM cats and they still work fine.:bows:

I think the EPA considers 100K miles the effective life of cats and you may replace them without possible fines above 100K miles......below that they are the responsibility of the manufacturer!!!

Removing them is not legal period and will NOT improve performance UNLESS they are plugged up!!:shake:

I removed mine at 105K miles and replaced the 4 OEM's with two Magnaflows and the performance is fine...as is the exhaust sound!!

Cats are a small restriction, but a restriction nonetheless. If you dyno'd back to back, only removing cats, I'm sure you'd see a few hp increase. I would not take them off on the street because I like to breathe clean air just as much as the next guy... strip only car, sure.
