Factory sender only sends voltage back to dash gauges. Check engine light "MIL (malfunction indicater lamp)" is only illuminated when their is an issue with emission related components i.e. egr, evap, misfires, etc. etc. The engine can dump its oil psi to zero and the mil will have nary a care. Or the engine can overheat to melting and the only reason the mil will illuminate is because the return voltage from the ect ( engine coolant temp ) sensor tells the computer that the ect voltage is out of normal range and it is no longer believable as an input for correct decision making of fuel and spark control, which would lead to hi-emissions. I'll be getting full wiring diagrams soon. I'll share :)
