View Full Version : Selling my Sport to get Marauder.. Question...

My dad is finally willing to sell me the Black Marauder... SOOO.. Of course with tax time coming around I'm thinking of a tune and a few other little things...

But my question is along the lines of outward appearances... And to some of you might be blasphemous...:flamer::P

But I've never liked a car that had an all red tail light. In my mind, if I ever have to put my emergency flashers on the only way anyone can see that I'm stopping is that small third tail light. Now on my 03 Sport there is that amber turn signal... Is there a way to put the Sport tail light on the Marauder? Would the electrical plug right in? Or would there be some wiring involved?

Constructive criticism please!!

Matt... it would not look right, but they would fit.

BTW... the Sport is sweet too.

Do the S55 treatment?

Matt,
Nice to hear from you! I hope eveything is going well. The MM doesn't have separate sockets for turn lamps like an '03 Sport. You'd have to purchase additional sockets and wire them into your current harness. The ones used for the brake lights would need to be powered off of the third brake lamp signal to remain on independently of the turn signals. You could do that with the Marauder taillamps as well. If you search, you'll find a thread by Defyant showing how to change the tails to four lamp units. That could be your guide. The only difference would be the brake lamp signal to the upper four bulbs. The MM tails are dark and unique, I wouldn't change them on a black car - only modify them.

Best luck,

Jake

Yellow lollipops in the rear window is the way to go.

Jake's right. The brake and turn signals are on the same circuit controlled by the LCM.

There's no way to separate the signals. If you do what Jake suggested with the wiring, the turns would light when applying the brakes. But the brake lights would not light when using the turn signals. Even yellow lillipops in the back window would have the same problem. They would light on brake not just on turn.

Many have added 2 more bulbs in the lower portion of the housing. Some careful dremel work, a couple sockets and come crimps later, you'll have 4 bulbs. You could then use some LED bulbs in the lower housing and it would give the effect of a sequential turn signal due to the quickness of LED VS incandescent (some one here has done it).

Last but not least, the Marauder tails lack the reflective (silver) inner coating. This is what makes them have a darker and more subtle appearance.

Bottom line, don't bother.

Just keep your sport and change the engine to a three valve, or 5.4L Cobra engine.

Make the lollipops LEDs (low amps) and wire them into the front directionals...the LCM wouldn't know.

You are correct. I was more thinking of no significantly long wire runs.... and amperage (for bulbs) wouldn't matter much. Might make the flash a tiny bit slower if anything at all.

Search around here for "Silver Shades". I did a write up on moding the taillights.

I always thought the amber tail lamps would look sweet on a Marauder, but only if you had them darkly tinted. I like how 99 cobras had the ambers too.
