I discussed with 2,4shofast last night the need or lack thereof for powder coating headers. First, let me go on record here saying that the Kooks exhaust system is far and away the best performance mod I;ve done on the car. This mod alone netted me a consistant .4 to .6 in the 1/4. That being said, when I purchased the kit, I phoned Kooks on the powder coating issue. Mr. Kook himself got on the phone, and assured me. "we use high quality stainless stell in our products. The Headers should last the life of your car. Unless you are going to show it, there is no need for powder coating." Well, about 140,000 miles later, I'm here to tell you he's telling the truth. That's right, 140,000 miles on them. Not like the old days when you got about 40,000 on a set of brand H. Here's the photos I promised, not the best as I didn't want to crawl under the car. Anyone on the fence, just do it. Well worth the money.

Thanks for the write up Paul.

That is a lot of miles for a set of headers.

Buy me a set?

Agreed, stainless beats powder coating. PC is just a crutch for mild steel that will eventually rot regardless.

the first and last "brand H" set of headers I bought lasted one year/12,000 miles ...leaded gas and northern winters greatly increased exhaust corrosion
