Sorry if this topic has been discussed to death, but I just want to ensure I replace my plugs with the correct type. I have 93K miles on my MM, and am wanting to replace the plugs, (still running the original). I have purchased a set of NGK-TR55 plugs, (the stated replacement for the MM at the parts store). However, I see the recommendation for the NGK-TR6 plugs on this site. With my MM not being S/C, should I still go with the cooler TR6 vs. TR55? I am running the DR XCalc2 tune, but that is it.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated!!!:)

Thank you in advance,
Mike

Go with the cooler TR6's.

And pick up a 180 degree thermostat while you're at it.

The TR6 is a cooler plug and is what is recommended here, but if you've already installed the TR55's you'll be fine. I'm running TR6's (for future SC use) now, but my previous set were the TR55's and they worked great with no hassles.

Many thanks to everyone for the replies.

I have not installed them yet. Box is still unopened and I have the receipt. I will take them back and exchange them for the TR6 plugs.

Does the tune already advance the timing, or is this a custom setting, or should I just leave it alone?

Thanks,
Mike

I run NGK TR60IX Iridium Plugs.

Thanks for the reminder.

I was referring to the NGK TR55IX and the NGK TR6IX plugs. These are Iridiums.

Your tune already bumps the timing up...

However, if like mine, I have a 91 octane tune and use 92 octane from the pumps...so, I bumped my timing up 2* globaly for a little more Oomph...

And pick up a 180 degree thermostat while you're at it.

Why?...to increase piston ring wear & cylinder bore wear?...to increase engine wear?...to slighty increase windshield defrosting & engine warm-up time in cold weather?...to add more sludge, acids, condensation and other contaminants to the oil?...to gain a minor horsepower increase, at a certain times during engine operation?...isn't the factory thermostat engineered to work best in all climates and situations, with a factory computer tune? ;)

Is SP505 the new part# for AGSF22C?
