No not really. Our options we have on hand are the North Skyway rest area/recreation area (Islands along the causeway leading South to the bridge) and Emerson Point Park in Palmetto. The distinct issues with those are-

North Skyway - Lots of vehicular traffic and people doing beach/island stuff. Camping, boating, fishing, sunbathing, Jetskiing, Kiteboarding, etc. No shelters where there is ample parking. The picnic facilities are limited.

Emerson Point -We are approaching the limit of parking there as well. When I visited, I could count 36 "spaces" plus two handicapped. More can fit but there's a limit.

Plusses-
North Skyway -Unlimited space and six miles from the South rest area. No turns required!

Emerson Point -Same distance from the hotels as South Skyway. 1 exit North and go straight West 8 miles. Beachfront area with a pavillion and picnic areas. Restrooms. A quarter-acre mound, twenty-five feet high, overlooking the parking areas and offering the nicest vistas in Manatee County! Great for pictures. Beach area (Emerson Point) is surrounded by the Manatee River, Tampa Bay and Terra Ceia Bay.

One last point, the Skyway Toll is one dollar. Take change (singles) with you on the trip!

Oh I am sure he won't want to leave, but he is scheduled to fly out Monday morning at 7:00 Am. I'll probably have to push him out the door at the airport:lol:. I am sure would not want to go back to the Detroit area in 20 degree temps :shake:.

We had a blast the food was awesome, but the camaraderie was priceless, and the weather held out for us till about 2:30 so we all have headed to our Hotels and were regrouping at 6:00 PM do decide where Marauder TJA is buying drinks.:banana2::banana2::beer ::beer::bows::bows:
