Gave the corners a blacking out treatment.
Simply put, masked out the area in a basic setup to still allow reflection and proper light, did about 3 coats of black (matched the number to Marauder black) and like 8 coats of clear...
Then 1500 grit wet sand, then 2000 grit wet sand, then 3M rubbing compund, then 3 coats of wax.

I think it looks more sleek but the pictures don't do any it any justice. I'll have to get a good daytime shot with them back on the car.

I used Dupli-color and matched the car's paint code. The clear is Dupli-color clear coat.
I did it myself. The key is lots of even coats and proper wet sanding.

The masking job is the impressive part to me.. How did you get your lines so smooth?
Looks fantastic -- I think that treatment would look great on an SB, but not sure I'm skilled enough.

Very well done Danny!
Looks killer - I can't wait to see a picture on the car!
I need to respray my tail lights and I might do the corners as well now.

Very carefully. :D
I wanted to try something different. One of the SEMA Marauders from a few years ago had something a bit more blacked out but it looked like it blocked too much of the reflector and turn signal.

This is where I got the idea from:

I wanted to keep most of the reflector, cornering light, and turn signal visible but this was the inspiration....4 years ago. :D

I'm not a fan of those headlights on a Marauder. On a Bentley, different story. :D

Hey -- Do you have a complete, front end shot of the "inspiration" car? I'm curious what the whole front end looks like with that grille and headlight setup.

Directions are fairly simple.
Remove light, mask, paint, attach light, drive...haha.
All I did was clean it really thoroughly with a damp rag. Let it dry of dry it however. Then a dab of alcohol on a lint free cloth to remove any residue, oil, wax, anything else.
I used blue painter's masking tape. Mask the area you don't want painted....carefully. And mask that fake rubber part on the top. You can normally eyeball it and see if it appears straight or even.
Nice even coats of black (or the color of your car) following the can's instructions. I did about 3 coats or until it's solid enough to be opaque.
Carefully remove the masking tape. You can remove with the paint still slightly tacky....not wet, but slightly tacky.
Spray on clear as the instructions say. I did like 8 coats to get it thick.
Once dry, I wet sanded with 1500 grit under a wet dish sponge. You should be able to see the high and low spots as you sand. Wet sand until smooth and it looks cloudy. Next, wet sand a with 2000 grit sand paper.
After that, I polished with 3M polishing compound as the instructions. Polish until it's really smooth.
Then wax as you wound the car.
Done!!!

I like the way that looks. I may have to steal your idea. Whats the fender badge? I can't make it out.
PS. Whats up with the green plants in the background?? Its winter, shouldn't everything be brown, light brown, or snow white?
Good job on the lights.:bows:
Oh yeah one more thing... how hard is it to take out the lights? I could go outside and look at my MM, but its cold and its easier to type out a question...

I know in Philly we had green leaves until as late as early November. And since those are nasty weeds behind there (Abandoned train tracks), they stayed green longer. MUTANTS!!!
I took that picture in early November....yes, I know... I was driving with just one painted for a few months....haha. But now I have the pair.
Taking the lights out is fairly easy. Remove the plastic radiator cover and you'll see the two bolts for the lights. Remove the bolts, pop the light out and slide a bit forward to release. Remove the bulbs and pop the tabs holding in the wiring.
Fender badge is a 2000 Explorer V8 emblem. Fits that car sooo nicely. I put that one like a month after I got the car.
