Is in a Marauder? Is it a Pioneer, Kenwood, etc? I want to get a few extra cartridges so I can "pre-load" CD's in them but I have no idea who makes the CD changer. Has anyone ever bought any aftermarket? I'm sure Mecury sells them also but I wanted to see if it was a common aftermarket item first.

The radios are Alpine so I'd guess the changer is too??
Call Alpine Corp. at 800-421-2284 and see if you have as much fun/luck as I have....so far!!??:mad2:

Another noob who can't or won't operate the search....
The changer is Alpine. We have been over this a million times. As of yet, no one has found the cartridge. It has been my experience that OEM manufacturers often use 'off-the-shelf 'guts' with OEM specific wiring, casing, etc. More often, for changers, at least, it's a recently discontinued model.
That being said, I will once again suggest the someone find a good and long-established Alpine dealer and work with them to try different cartridges 'till one works. Being that the stereo was ordered from OEM in or around 1999-2001 or so to make into cars by June 02, you're loking for a fairly old style cartridge which is why you need a long established dealer who may have these parts in an old parts bin somewhere.
After it's found, the part number can be ordered from the OEM manufacturer (Alpine).
If you find it, POST IT!

And I still did not see anything mentioning this. I did a search for CD, cd changer, cd cartridge, etc. and found over 25 pages of things not even related to the CD charger, including a bbq'd Marauder and other things totally unrelated. If anyone can show me a list of previous posts on this I am all ears.
Thanks

found these in under 10 seconds.
Also look in John's Stereo forum.
But don't bother. You already have the whole story.

The part number for the cartridgeis 3f1t-18c833-aa, and the changer is made by clarion corp. iI know because i just had to replace mine. To find out for yourself all you have to do is remove the carpet trim and you will see the label on the side of the changer.

Velly Intellesting, indeed. I have removed at least half a dozen units and never seen such a sticker. All sources (and there have been several credible, including a shop that repairs Ford OEM) that report it's Alpine, just like the deck.
There we finally have it, then. Thanx for piping up.
Is that the clarion number or the Ford number? I think the mission was to try to bypass Ford parts and go straight for the OEM mfg to avoid up-charges.

the number is off of the front of the cartridge. It would seem to be a ford number.

OK, that brings us a step closer...
We need to now search for a Clarion dealer of the same status mentioned above and find the OEM mfg part.
I think John Kuhn is a Clarion dealer.

Cool. I PM'ed John and linked him this thread. Those prices are sky high. I remember selling Pioneer M30 magazines for CDXM30's OEM in Mitsubishi's for $8.95!
Further, it's not a new changer for the Marauder, just a new radio. Alpine's contract must have included interfacing with an existing changer...

I asked my Dealer how much for a cartridge and they quoted some assonine price of about $70.00!
He didn't like me asking if the damn thing was made of platinum. :D
Mike.
ps. This could be a serious group buy here,...

My point, exactly. We may not hear from John 'till Monday, but this seems to be an upturn in the search!
Perhaps such a strong buy, we may see magazine prices like the mid 90's mentioned above!!!
We may need to get a Ford (Marauder) magazine or changer to John for verification.

Also, I saw one of those sites mention GS-6. I get nothing on that part number on Clarion's site.

This part number is used in many rides according to the sites I visited.
Anyone out there working in DSO Material Control at a Ford Plant?
They very well should be able to find out with a few phone calls.
Mike.
I am going to be with some of the Marauder people in Kalamzoo tomorrow. I will take a Clarion cartridge with me and try it in someones car. If it is a Clarion they are under 30.00. Seems like I have used Clarion in Fords before.I am a Clarion dealer.
