View Full Version : SSM Picnic Info
New update - Contact Cobra25 to confirm attendance at the picnic. I've printed dash tags for everybody that's registered. Come on folks, we're almost to fifty. Got a hundred name tags. Who is gonna run us out? The picnic isn't about the cars, it's about the com-marauder-ry. Boy we sure are light from the SW coast and the local area. Thought it was about the people? . . .
PM me if you need my c/phone number.
A quick update -
There are plenty of restaurants near the hotel. There is a tremendous outlet mall (Prime Outlets, Ellenton- http://www.primeoutlets.com/cntrdefault.asp?cntrid=1019 ) one exit North of the racetrack/hotel exit (4 miles Exit 224). There are also a couple of antique malls within a couple of miles of the hotel. There is an Amish colony in Bradenton with some wonderful restaurants and hand-made gift shops.
Oddly enough, there is also a Harley Davidson dealership/store( http://www.manateeriverharleydavidson .com (http://www.manateeriverharleydavidson .com/) ) in the area near the hotel (walking distance).
The Skyway Bridge is a tremendous vista if anyone cares. The former bridge sections represent the longest fishing piers in the world. The South pier is miles long! http://www.floridastateparks.org/skyway/default.cfm
Here is an aerial map of the South Skyway area with some notation. If coming from I-75, you must take I-275 to the Skyway Bridge. The Rest Area exit is approx. 1/4 mile past the Northbound toll booth or 1.5 miles beyond the bridge Southbound. This is 14-15 miles from the hotel.
Will pass on more info this week!

By the looks of it, we should all get there early. It appears we may be taking up the entire rest/picnic area:eek:.

When we drove about 10 panthers around the pier last year we got a lot of looks. People's heads were on swivels. I can only imagine what folks would do with 40 of us driving around it.

Thanks for the heads-up. I am REALLY looking forward to seeing familiar faces, shaking hands and meeting new members. Is there a raffle or giveaway planned? How can somebody participate in prizes?

I'm just trying to find out if I have to get the locals to do the rain dance :banana:over here on this side of the state, to ensure dryness on the other side.:banana2:
