HI all,
I got 4.10's for the Marauder and want to put them in sometime this spring (when she goes back on the road), but it is a mid 03 Canadian 300a (I believe) so should I be expecting to have to put axles in it?? She has 85k kms.
Thanx

If your MM was made before 1/1/03, then it could require the axles replacement kit. You'll know when they open the rear end to change the gears.

I know they'll find out when they open it up but I'm worried that the axle kit is not readily available up here and don't want it pushed in and out of the shop for day waiting for the kit to arrive, the build date is 10/02......

Thanx :) scares me though might have to see if the dealership will bring up the kit just to stock hahaha

With 85kms, I would think you would have noticed if your axles were bad by now...

BTW the bad axles were apparently only on MMs made before January 2003...if your car was made after this, you should be good. If for some reason you do find your axles on their way out, the complete TSB kit can be obtained from Ray "TheDealer" here for under $300, I believe.

*EDIT* RoyL beat me to it...

Apparently the axles bearing surface did not meet harden specs, possibly due to a failure to heat treat.

The replacement axels TSB Kit is less than the list on one axle.

If you have to pay out of warr. Make sure you get the kit.

On my car possibly due to running MT ET the bearing surfaces were sloughing off. We replaced them with the PI axles and a truck carrier.

Have you considered going to 31 spline axles? Ford did in 2005. Even with less horsepower.

Tell your dealer to reference TSB # 03-5-5.

The kit consists of 2 new axles, axle bearings, seals, 3 quarts of 75W-140 synthetic gear lube, a bottle of friction modifier, and a tag to put on the diff cover that says "Use 75W-140 synthetic only".

Don't have a dealer do your 4.10 get a real mechanic to do it for you.
