View Full Version : Stall under hard Decel....any thoughts?

That's the problem. Computer threw a couple of codes, and now we can't get it to throw anything. One of the codes was a 605 error. We're thinking corrupt computer.
I had an old Superchip handheld tune on it for a while, then went to a SCT chip, and am now running a Diablo chip on it. It didn't start till the Diablo chip went on. So I asked my tuner for another one as I thought the tune was bad. He obliged, well it stalled on that too. So I blamed the chip, until I removed the chip and went back to stock tune. Lo and behold, stall on the stock tune.
It's hard to make it do it, but usually 1-2 times a day under hard decel I can count on it kickin out. I get intermittent power loss another 3-4 times per day as well. It's a quick flash loss, battery light flashes for nanosecond, PS, PB go dead but interior and stereo stay on.
I've had someone tell me about decel tables for the tune, something to do with a neutral safety switch, and a couple other random things. Got any thoughts?
Is your alternator working properly?
Have it checked.

nail the chip to the wall, that's what I did with mine. Is the dealer capable of doing some sort of diagnosis with their hardware? Alt. sounds like a god plan too

Anybody else have their dashlight for the brakes come on when stopping fast?

Replace, yes I said replace your brake fluid. It has too much moisture in it.

Idle air motor will affect throttle slammed-shut condition at speed?

What is making the sensor come up with the dummy light? Lack of pressure when pushing the pedal down? How do I go about draining the system? pump it out through the caliper bleeder valves?

there is a sensor plugged into the side of the brake res... whether it measures level or someting else I don't have a clue. I always assumed it was level

Let's start with that code. Verify P0605 (or P1605) is a recurring code. Without looking it up, I'm assuming that's a checksum or ROM (Read only memory) error in the PCM. The diagnostic chart for that code would be very short e.g.-
1. Clear codes and verify code reset.
2. Reflash or replace PCM and flash with the current calibration.
I didn't look it up but I'm sure that's the story. PCM is warranteed to the original and all subsequent owners of the vehicle for eight years and eighty-thousand miles by the manufacturer's emission warranty.

Yes, the ROM. We cleared and it still does it. Are you saying to have the dealer reflash the OE PCM? Since the unit has been cracked for chip install, the warranty is void, yes/no?

How? What am I telling them to look for?

Clean or replace you IAC Valve. If you are running a conical filter, clean the MAF sensor. Of course also make you you have no vacuum leaks too.
If the alternator is going bad, you'll have other problems pointing to that. The computer monitors the current voltage and compensates for it. Not likely a charging issue.
