Has anyone noticed an engine squeal on colder days when starting your car in the morning? It was especially noticable today during our big ice/rain storm here in the northeast today. When I first started the car in the morning, there is a squealing sound, almost like a loose belt, but the belts are not loose. After driving to work in the morning with the engine getting about normal temperature, it goes away. Im running with about 81,000 miles now, and have had my car for 2 years and never heard this sound before. Everything has been kept up to top snuff on this car. Has someone had a similar problem?

Sounds like the belt is slipping. Possibly a defective tensioner.
I say change the smooth and ribbed idlers on the timing cover. They do wear out.
I had the same problem on my Blue when I picked it up with 45k.
About 30 bucks from ford and 1 bolt each to remove.

Sounds like when my serpentine belt needed to be replaced.

Mide made a quick chirp almost everytime I started it for a year. Replaced the belt and idler pulley to no avail. My starter died, after replacing it there was no more squeek.
I put a screwdriver on the tensioner this morning and applied pressure and the sound went away.
BAD TENSIONER!
