In the future I plan to get a Marauder. I plan on full exhaust, gears and intake/tune. Which can be done regardless of the amount of miles on the car (usually). However I really want to get the Trilogy or Vortech s/c kit. So my question is, without a planned rebuild. What is the mileage you guys would recomend for a safe s/c application? And don't say the lower the better lol. Thats obvious. I just want to know a range of miles to look for. A range that can take boost, but wont a need a rebuild anytime soon. Im sure the amount of boost is a factor too.

Thanks -Alex-

It's going to matter what the condition the engine is in when you get it.

High mileage
Low mileage
Did the previous owner take care it
Has the engine been abused

You can have a new motor that will self-destruct with forced induction if the tune isn't done right.

You can have a high mileage engine run fine with forced induction if the tune is done right.

You'll never know.

^True true. About the tuning. Do those kits come with a handheld tuner/custom chip? Or is it all done on the dyno?

For real world example see the following;
http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=40318

Looking back I was getting a CEL and assumed it was the O2 sensors. I think the fuel pumps were going bad resulting in a lean condition. This is what I think hurt the motor.

Had I paid attention and had her diagnosed I think she would have lasted another 20K and 40 runs.

There is another S/C Marauder w/ over 165K miles of which 75K are S/C.

Have several oil samples analyzed to get an idea of the motors condition.

I believe all the kits come with a "tune". Personally I'd get mine tuned on a dyno since all engines are different.
