Ok dont know if u guys have picked up on this. 300A marauder owners with out the traction control switch, u can disable traction control buy pulling the relay out of the fuse box above the right wheel well. Will not send trouble code to computer and if u drive ur marauder in the snow u can put it back in during the winter months. Just look up the relay location in ur owners mannual or if u dont have it i will look it up and let u know. Let the burn outs begin. :burn::burnout:

Yea they do as a matter of fact when i first got into the seat of a marauder, yes the passanger seat, not old enough to drive, i remember my dad trying to get the tires to turn over and was very disapointed. The dealer told dad to put it into 1st and still nothing, dad got the book out and pulled the relay on the car and the dealer about s**t a brick. That car never had the relay back in it till it sold they kept it out to sell the cars.

03 300A models with full size spare had no switch to turn it off in 04 Ford made the decission to remove the locking fuel door and full size spare to save the money to put in the tc switch

"decontented" - contents taken away. 2003 300B's don't have remote gas door opener, front seat pockets and separate clock like the 2003 300A's. And then there are those "pre-decontented" 300B's that have those but also have traction control and a mini spare. Confused yet? ;)

you may have a "mutt" or a very late 300a in which some got tc and heated seats. as some b's have no tc. just a guess

So im sorry i may have been wrong but my black 2003 300a marauder of a build date of 08/16/08 and i know that i pulled a tc relay out i really need some help on this one

I'm gonna take a stab and say that that is 02, and yeah 8 /16 sounds like it is a mixed build date.

I'm still waiting for his VINs to verify this. I know this, I have TC. I HATE IT. I want to get rid of it.
The one from August should not have TC unless it has the wrong module or it is a 2004.

OK so i went out to the garage and pulled the car cover off of the car and got the relay out of the glove box and looked again. The relay came from what the book says TC relay. I do believe u guys about the TC i just know that before i took that relay out even with 4:10 gears it still wouldnt turn the tires over. With the relay out it would turn tires over all the way into third with power brake. So this is what i need is someone with a 300a just to see if they have the relay like i did or if it is empty. Maybe the older gentleman that had my car before i bought it had the TC installed. If anyone has a 300a that could check it would be wonderful. thanks and thanks for the corrections to that was one of prolly many things that i did not know

Sho- is correct.
Although what you offer regarding pulling the fuse is correct (we knew that already), 300A cars like mine with no switch DO NOT HAVE TRACTION CONTROL.
This option wasn't hidden. If you have aswitch, you have it. You need only turn it off to disable. No switch...no havy.
.... now he said most and i hate that.
There was a transition period when some A's got B qualities. It is confusing, but we worked that out as well some time ago. ;)

Yeah Pre-decontented. That is what I meant.
Oh and All Canadian 2003 Marauders, and 2004's have traction control
Canadian (meaning Canadian market) 2003 Marauder with traction control are 300A's and 300B's.
But they all have switches.

BTW,why would you want to brake torque the car and burn up a pair of $200 tires?Oops, sorry,I forgot,I was 18 once too,but that was a few centuries ago.

But they all have switches.Almost right.....when they made US 2003 300As (without TC), the Canadian cars were not in production. Canadian cars were not made until the production changed to US 300B (with TC)....but, those Canadian cars were called 300A.

All marauders have TC In all 300A models it is listed as a forced Traction Control all speed axle. The only way to disable is to pull the relay. All 300B marauders is labled as functional Traction Control all speed axle. Mercury Customer Assistance Center 1-800-392-3673 or dealer manuals have it listed. Note chips can not take traction control off of the vehical program. So just because u dont have a switch does not mean u do not have TC;)

Isn't there a traction control module somewhere????
Take a picture of that, that is better proof than a relay box.
somebody need to realize that more than just a couple of these type of cars were made and that possibly you have a harness from a vehicle that was supposed to have traction cotrol but thats it just the harness. I WANNA SEE THE MODULE

No. Im telling you guys it was a forced TC. They never would have changed the system in the middle of production. TC is tied into the ABS. All someone would have to do is open there relay box on a 300A and see if u have a relay. If they as you guys say have no TC there would be no need for a TC relay.

, open the relay box and see if you have a TC relay. I will even give you the page number (142) relay number (205)Just because there's a relay plugged into the socket, doesn't mean you have Traction Control. My August '02-built 300A will burn the tires off the rims with the Trilogy so I KNOW I don't have T/C. I will check for the relay when I get home tonight.

There's a thread on here somewhere from a member who added t/c to their 300A. I believe he had to add a t/c control module which is not installed on 300A but is installed on 300B and all '04 and all Canadian Marauders. The ABS control is also different. Maybe even the PCM. I'll try and find the upgrade instructions thread.
I have a 300A and a 300B. I know the difference between t/c and non-t/c.
Next you'll be telling us about how the cylinder head temperature sensor is used to go into "limp-home" mode...

Traction control is listed I will make it red

But you've listed a 2003 300B - note the mini temporary spare tire and no mention of the remote gas door release. Once the 300Bs came out, the list was updated. Front seat pockets aren't mentioned either.

Traction control is listed I will make it redThere are a couple of things wrong here...
First, you didn't edit out the unnecessary parts of your post and it took 2 separate posts to get it all in. Next time, use better netiquette.
Second, that list describes a 2003 300B, ALL of which have traction control.
Third, you copied that list from a generic car site called www.lotpro.com. Obviously they are recognised experts on the Marauder and we are not.

I'd be very interested in seeing this. I was just thinking about this over the weekend and was going to post about it.

I don't want to get into this "discussion" but I have a '03 300A # 2162. and it has the same relay in the proper place, #205, I don't try to waste my tires, but in the snow I wish it had TC, My friend has a Mustang with it , and claims it's great in the snow.

If you did try to do a burn out with the relay in, then remove the relay you would see a big difference

According to all published details, it works with ABS, and limits throttle response, to keep wheel spin to a minimum.

Nomad,
Thanks for the seach link. I checked it out of curiousity, and it looks like the subject has been researched pretty thoroughly by guys that WANTED to add T/C:
Lots of parts changed when the TC was added. Incomplete list includes:
* ABS Hydraulic Control Unit different than ABS/TC Hydraulic Control unit
* ABS electronic controller (mounted on HCU) different than ABS/TC
* Brake tube bundle had some changes (not sure what is different)
* Wiring in IP for switch. Despite claims above that the wiring is there on the early units, I do not believe that to be the case.
* MAYBE the wiring to the PCM for the TC to tell the PCM when to truncate torque. I'm not sure if the network connection for that communication was there at the beginning, or only added when the TC was introduced. The PCM software hooks to handle the torque truncation was there from the beginning, but I'm just not sure if the wiring for the commications protocol was there or not.
* Spare tire detect for the TC module assumes that you have the mini-spare, so if it detects a spare on the rear, mini-spare tractive capabilities are assumed, not the "Front Size Spare" which would have greater tractive capability.
TC wasn't available on the first units because the engineering for the TC package and wasn't done yet. TC was brought in mid-year when everything was done and proven out.
BTW, I've got a 300B, and find the T/C to be a PITA. First thing I do after starting the engine is punch the T/C button to "off."

I would expect that there is confusion on the ABS vs TC issue. Decontenting was FordWide and not just for Marauder. Job 2 or B models traded the full size spare for TC. All the other stuff was phased out throughout all the FoMoCo cars over time as supplies ran out. The seat pockets, the locking gas door, and about 20 other thingies went away. Decontenting took away the Plastic engine cover, the vacuum operated parking brake release, the under hood insulation blanket, the spare tire cover on the police interceptors .. For 2008 the B model Grand Marquis switched from 16 inch to 17 inch wheels so that all panthers could catch up with the PIs which went to 17 inch in 2006 and the 2008 Town Cars which started at STAP just 6 weeks ago. And specifically for the 2004 Marauders..no black paint on your cam covers and some tranny mods. And didja know that the smoker's package consisting of the little plastic ashtray and the ligher element is now an option on some Panthers?? Back in 2002/3 on this very forum there was a fine list of all the decontenting and the items involved and some folks gave their VINs so a spread sheet could be made of the phase in of the decontenting. The A to B transition was done somewhere around 639000 as I remember it, give or take a few thousand, as all Marauders and Grand Marquis in 2003 were M75s and it wasn't til the 04 model year that the Marauder got its own vin M79 allowing the insurance cos to tell what was a HyPo. Of course all the Canadian 03s were 300Bs with TC, Confusin' ain't it! Of course, I spend a while fumbling in my glove box on my 2000 GM LX to shut the TC of in order to get up my icy driveway without the stupid braking and engine controls. What a place for the switch when a driver needs it in a hurry. Ever try to spin your way out of mud when the puter is putting the brakes on and not allowing you throttle?? Thank you Elena Ford for hiding the switch so the ladies wouldn't have to wonder if it was for the makeup mirror.
