 I am sure I am being known as the "I hate BF Goodrich Tire Guy" in the group. After agonizing with the originals and having more agony with the KDW2s I have sworn off BF Goodrich tires. Everyone knows about the flaws with the originals. But I believed the center tread wear problem on the rears and inside front edge wear was a problem on the originals so I tried the KDW2s. I since learned of course the inside tire wear was due in large part to the design of the suspension and the recommendation of Carfixers to correct. I also felt very confident to get the newer version (KDW2) since on one of the car builder shows on cable TV the famous designer used them as well. My complaint has been voiced before in various threads. The tires were so loud it was ridiculous. In fact they scallopped as time went on and my car vibrated at low speeds so much my rear view mirror was always vibrating. The November 2007 Consumer Reports issue does a look at performance tires and the KDW2 was the only tire in the Summer UHP (Ultra High Performance) category to get a solid black circle for tire noise. So I went out to our members and I want to thank various members for their suggestions. Many of you like the Nitto tires 420 S but they do not make separate smaller tires for the front. Some of you advised me you use the Nitto on the rear and the original BF Good rich on the front. Since I swore off BF Goodrich I did an extrensive Internet search on Tire Rack and various consumer sites and found other than the BF Goodrich the only reasonably priced perfomance tire was the GoodYear Eagle F1 GS D3. The fronts were $ 190, the rears $ 194 at both Tire Rack and at the GoodYear store where my mechanic purchased them from. What really caught my eye was not only did Consumer Reports recommend but Car and Driver picked it as the best performance tire in its December 2005 issue! I got P235 in front and P 255 in the rear although they do make a P245 but I like the larger tires. Had them put on this week, had an alignment done according to the Carfixers recommendation of BlueRauder, and cannot believe it is the same car. I cannot even hear the tires on the road and talk about a smooth ride. And best of all, since I don't have the ungodly noise of the BF Goodrich KDW2s, I get to finally hear the sweet sound of my Magnaflows every time I hit the gas. Sweet!!!

I did some research a short while back, and concluded the f1's were going to my tire of choice as well. I'am looking foward to feeling the difference. Please continue to update us with your progress with the tires.

If you can hear the KDW2 tire noise then your exhaust system must be stock and muffled lol. I have them on the rear and never really hear anything. Even my snow tires I know are noisy but when cruising or driving I just don't hear them over a little bit of radio or throttle.

My same impression! Glad you chose wisely! They get really sticky after a couple hundred miles (when the painted stripes wear off). In warm weather, you can throw the car into corners that would put you into a ditch with the BFGs.

Sweet!!!you know thats funny that you say that about the original BFGs, i have the exact same problem with my BFGs... just to be sure i will check my alignment. i just ordered a set of goodyear f1s. for the front i ordered 245/50r18 and the rear 255/55r18

I will have to try the Eagles.

I nor has anyone in my MArauder ever heard the KDW2. Your report is the first I have seen.

Between the exhaust, the engine and the a/c it does not exists.

Either you are in an area with different road surfaces, have no need for the a/c or drive in a silent place.

Not exactly. The Magnaflows sound great now that I can hear them. It was the tires. In fact, the more the KDW2s wore the louder they got. My Marauder actually vibrated at speeds under 40. The rear view mirror vibrated, the dash, it was ridiculous. But the new Goodyear Eagle F1s are so quiet I'm beside myself. I can barely hear the tires on the road if at all but the exhanust has not been stock for over a year. Yes the KDW2s were THAT LOUD! And the rear view mirror and dash don't rattle anymore.

Those F-1s have a pretty soft compound. I am curious how well they will hold up on our heavy cars. I don't see getting a lot of milage out of them.

Sounds, no pun intended, like you had square tires.

This happens more frequently than you think. Mercedes had a model that was heavier than the spec tires could handle and if the car sat for 24 hours the tires became square. Causing noise and vibration.

GoodYear Eagle F1 GS D3, But are they all weather tires?
Tire Rack I believe has them rated as N/A under winter weather.

In the cold, they're just like any other summer tire... scary. Definitely not an all season tire.

Can you post a pic's of the car with the tires? I would like to see how beefy they look.
