I see alot of nice cars out there without steering wheel locks. Just wondering what the consensus is for my fellow MM owners?
I use a Club LX religiously and also have McGard Wheel locks.

I have the 'FORTRESS' better than the CLUB, great piece of mind. I do need to pick me up some wheel locks, though:rolleyes:

Why though?
Clubs are for cars that have ignitions easily popped and hot wired.
Without the keys to your car, no one can start it.
Club or not, if someone really wants it, they'll tow it or flat bed it.
A little dry ice does wonders to those club locks.

or a pair of bolt cutters on the steering wheel....one snip and your lock slides right off.
Get the wheel locks though.

Yeah, I guess for me its just more of a deterrent for the impulse thief or junkie. If they see the club, they might just move on to the next car and I won't have to worry about getting my ignition wrecked after they find out they can't start it.

Yes, both valid points. But..
It costs about $20, its a cheap extra deterrent. I see it this way; a perp walks up to the car, see's the factory dummy red flashing light and the installed flashing blue light from the viper system AND a huge yellow bar locked in place on the steering wheel. If it would change the mind of one guy, it will pay for itself. You figure your insurance deductible in and most likely you'll be fixing a broken window out of your pocket, in the event that they could not start it. Why not I say!!

Ahh true...and it doubles as a "staff of cranius splittus".
I gotta wheel locks, my they give my plenty of peace of mind. And I had a club on the old Plymouth Voyager but it went to my uncle along with the rest of the van.
Been thinking about getting a club or other steering wheel lock but the way I drive, the last thing I need is something not tied down to the floor and bouncing around. :drive::burn:
But yeah, everyone should have wheel locks, McGuard or otherwise. Its the first thing I did to my car, and its almost set and forget. Instructions said something about checking/tightening ever 500 miles (or mayber 5K) or so I think.

I have the McGard wheel locks and a python 2 way alarm. Both items were put on BEFORE i even brought the car home. The last car i used a club on was my 89 grand marquis.

If you are thinking of wheel locks, you should be if you don't have them already, go with the Gorilla lock system. 20 locks, 5 per wheel. Search for the P/N.

I agree. I have 'em. It'll take a thief a few minutes at least to fight 20 gorillas!

I arrested an individual driving a stolen car with the club installed.
He was driving with one hand and had a hacksaw blade in the other cutting the steering wheel.:D
It's very easy to cut through the wheel. Once cut through bend the wheel and the lock is off. The will park the car and reinstall the lock so no one steals it from them.:D.
The club and wheel locks are deturrents, but as stated above if they want it the will get it by tow truck or flatbed.:(

Yes, well if someone really wants to break into my condo, they will rent a cherry picker and a wrecking ball. Does this mean I shouldn't bother putting the chain lock on the front door?

On my snow tires I have special Lugnuts, they require a special adapter for removal. Would Wheel locks even fit?

"clubs" and other steering wheel locking devices are such crap.
Alls you have to do it hack saw a cut in the steering wheels, pull it towards you and slip the hook of the "club" out of the cut.
Don't ask me how I know this.

Ummm maybe we should stop posting how to break clubs...

I can feel the stock in that company dropping by the second.
But it really is common knowledge, almost every car forum has this thread or something like this. And come to think of it, I saw a demonstation on the old court TV (now TruTV ) and that's why I haven't used one on the MM, especially with our comparably thin wheels.
And the gorilla lock system has 20?!? I got Mcguard and I only put one lock per wheel. Sounds like over kill to me . . .

No, they are all identical. Appearance is superior and they don't affect wheel balance.
They are win, win, win over the single lock per wheel type.

Do whatever gives you peace of mind, but locking lugs and "The Club" went out 20 years ago.
I haven't seen a stripped car up on cinderblocks in years - anybody who would do that just takes the whole car now, and strips it somewhere else at their convenience. Unless you're leaving your car in a seriously deserted area for an extended period of time, not needed IMO.
Eventually some kid at the shop will forget to put the key back in the glove box, and the next guy will have to cut them off anyway.
As for "The Club," modern anti-theft tech has made all of that stuff irrelevant. Everybody used to have them ; you used to see them all the time - now you never do.
My '95 Vic still has both of these, by the way

Put the Mcguards on the first night and i use The Autolock Pro Best thing out there trust me Far superior than any steering wheel lock. When we tow a car back to the yard we usually have keys made and have to deactivate alarms and remove devices such as steering wheel locks clubs are a joke you dont even need dry ice a nice hammer does the trick now when we have a car with the Autolock on we have to drill it out takes like 20 mins very noisy and you have to work on this with the drivers door open for leverage ,trust me no car thief is gonna work on your car for that long making all that noise. just my 2 cents

I love my baby, but wouldn't mind collecting on my agreed value policy and starting over with a GT500.

I don't see how these are any better than the Gorilla Lock System.

If someone wants your ****, they'll get it. Regardless of what anti-theft tools you have.
Only one I use is an ignition kill switch in my fox. Its built into the tune. When the controller for my tweecer is removed it defaults to my anti theft tune. Only way my fox will be stolen is if its on a trailer.

That is why its called a theft "deterrant". Makes it harder to steal. Hopefully the stealer will look for easier pickings.

I don't see how these are any better than the Gorilla Lock System.
They are machined to the exact hole diameter in your wheel made for lugnuts. They are also mostly flat, so trying to pound a good ol oversized chrome socket over it wont work. Neither will locking lugnut removal tools. There is no real surface area on the side of the rimlox to grab on to. I really wasn't convinced at first either but after doing some research on them it looks like the way to go.
