I have an older SCT 9100 Tuner and download cable from Dennis. I want to have a tune emailed to me, which is why I bought the cable.

This works for me, and I don't want to spend more $ on yet another tuner.

Dennis sent me an .EXE and a .RAR file with the tuner. The EXE file is obvious. I have no idea what the .RAR file is for. The program is looking for a COM port, which I don't have on my new computer.

Q: Have any of you downloaded a tune file onto a 9100?

Q: Will a USB to serial port adapter work and be recognized by the .EXE file?

All I want to do is replace a single unused higher octane tune on my 9100 with a newer tune in that slot, and still keep my DR tune and of course the factory tune as a backup.

Should be simple, I hope! :help:

Thanks as always for any info.

If memory serves me correctly, the serial/download cable has a power adapter built into it?

You may be better off borrowing a friend's laptop that has a serial port.

Mike.

OK, you're right. It does have a power adapter you plug into the side. I do have an old Win98 desktop box that I can use with a serial port if I have to. I was just trying to use my new system. I can get the tune file over there.

So would you happen to know what the .RAR file is? Was that a sample tune?

Thanks Mike.

RAR is a compression software like Zip.

Do a search down load for free RAR.

The tune is prob in RAR folder.

Doh! Yes, I knew that! :o:stupid:

Dennis must have just sent it along with his 2 tunes inside. The .rar file protects them from corruption as attachments I'm sure.

Thanks for thinking it out for me!
