And... this would be a bad thing? So this might mean I actually have a little more than 35 liters left in my tank if my gage reads halfway... Methinks the NHTSA has a little too much free time/money on their hands. Maybe they ran out of CVPIs to blow up? :D

For some it's food for thought when your driving down the highway on a 1/4 tank of gas . But someone must of complained
to them for them to put out this service Bull :

I wonder how much lower the gage must have read for someone to have complained. In my case, I think my MM's gage is behaving alright...

I actually have this problem w/my MM. I'll let you know if the fix is effective.

ditto on the problem. Most times I'll run the tank a good 30-45 miles past when the light first comes on and when I fill her up she still had 2-4 gallons left in her. I was under the impression the light first comes on with 2 gallons left....doesnt make much sense to me.

Someone stated in an earlier Thread that when they fill-up their gas tank and the pump shuts off by it self, meaning that the tank is full, when they checked their fuel gage it was reading below the full mark with a full tank of gas.
Mine reads on the full hash mark.

I recall reading somewhere about how much fuel was supposed to be left in the tank at the point the light comes on... I think I worked it out to be about 10-12 liters (verified at the pumps), so that works out to about 3 gallons. Which gives me a buffer of 50-60 miles to haul my a$$ to a pump.

Does anyone know if the MM uses a fuel-cooled fuel pump? ie. will the pump fry itself if you run the tank dry?
