I'm about the **** this POS up....

I have only had it for two months so far I have replaced....

The LCM
Two COPS
One of them which didnt throw a code so I had to bring to the stealer

and now the wiper motor needs replacing
not to mention the HVAC Blower only works on high and low.

I have never had a car with this many ****ing problems in two months of ownership. The only thing I ever had to fix on my vic was the alternator. Ford CPO is the biggest joke going.

Is this usual for one of these cars with only 25k?

Just the standard CPO Warranty which is utterly useless.

Not to say I told you so or anything, but I have driven that car, and yes it is indeed a POS like I started to say when you first bought the thing (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showpost.php?p=565017&postcount=2), but I never knew it was that bad, looks like I dodged the bullet and kept flying and luck had it that it hit you.

But from one guy who's driven your MM and drives another, you just got screwed (especially at that price[mercury certified my :censor:]) all Marauders are not bad, just that crappy one. If you can dump that one and try another, I can almost guarantee that it will be much MUCH better. Don't judge the flock by its black sheep!

P.S. Not only is it a shame for John, but I feel bad for that s.b. Its got some baggage only an experienced mechanic can work through :shake:

Fix through the problems and enjoy it afterwards. I know how it feels to buy something you really want and have continuous problems with it, but after you get em fixed you learn to love it.

Fix it.

I had a Lemon Mustang like that. I did finally sell it 17 years later but I still think of it as the best car I ever owned. Until I got my Marauder.

I had everything go wrong with that car. Everything, and yet after the first miserable year, except for the time someone put summer weight grease on the transmission cable and it froze in Drive. Everything afterwards except when the faulty ignition caught fire, common older mustang problem, worked like a dream. I eventually got so good at driving it I could hold it right at the edge of traction and just flew down the roads around Oxford, ring roads with round abouts are amazing at 70 MPH, never had to touch the brakes.

Work through the problems, fix them not to OEM level but to better. You will have the best Marauder out there in no time, throughly know your car and enjoy it.

Never ever give up.

PS I get the Corvette reference.

The wiper motor issue is pretty common to the Panther platform and there is a TSB out on the problem for "Uncommanded Wiper Operation".

Some folks have mentioned problems with the HVAC before but not always the blower speed. Mine seemed like it just wasn't putting out cold air like it should ... had it in for repair on three different occasions to check pressures. It's been OK now for the past 2 summers.

Have heard few if any problems here over the years with LCMs and COPS. Just curious but does your MM have some aftermarket electrical mods?

Your State's Attorney General Office is a good place to start, ask the Dealer to step up to the plate and repair the car first, write down dates times and who you spoke with keep your cool! Then check with the State. I did this once when I lived in Pa. and it worked very well. Most States have laws to protect the buyer.

Keep up posted and good luck.

PS: MarauderMark can run a carfax start there as see if the MM has a history.

Ask RoyLPita to run the vin # also.

Both are long time members here and GREAT guys.

Had a Crown Vic before I bought the Marauder. It was in the shop almost monthly for a never ending variety of problems. Eventually everything got sorted out and I doubt the next owner has had any problems with it. We looked into the lemon law at one point, but since the car had several different repair issues rather than one re currant one, we were told we didn't have a case. Bought the Marauder in '03 and other than oil changes, it hasn't been in the shop at all. It has been absolutely reliable as my daily driver. Don't give up on these cars. And good luck!

Good Morning,

I had an '03 Crown Vic LX Sport and had many issues too. Bought it as 25K (off warranty) and it already was on second set of tires. My replacements were: radio, LCM, all 4 rotors and pad sets, the driver's seat squeaked and many major bolts on the car were loose!! How about all 4 upper A-arm bolt nuts going loose at the same time!!! Oh, lets not forget the paint job was already shot at 32K. Enough said--it was a lemon. As I look for an '03 MM, I hope I do not run into similar issues.

Sorry for you mess,

Written Warranty required; terms.
_____1. No dealer shall sell or lease a used motor vehicle to a consumer without giving the consumer a written warranty which shall at minimum apply for the following terms:
__________(a) If the used motor vehicle has thirty-six thousand miles or less, the warranty shall be at minimum ninety days or four thousand miles, whichever comes first.
This does describe your situation. You bought the car two months ago with 25,000 miles. So unless you drove the car 4,000 miles in the last two months, your covered for another month by this law. At the very least, they should be fixing your problems for free under this warranty. When I bought my car used with 39,000 miles, I brought the car back to the dealer with a bad power window motor (passenger door), bad power lock actuator(rear driver door), squealing belt, a variety of burnt out bulbs(interior and exterior), and a bad alternator one month later. They replaced it all for free. Try doing what I did. Make a list of EVERYTHING that's wrong with your car, and go back to the dealer that you bought it from.

5. If the same problem cannot be repaired after three or more attempts, you are entitled to return the car and receive a refund of your purchase price or of all payments made under your lease contract, and of sales tax and fees, minus a reasonable allowance for any damage not attributable to normal usage or wear, and, in the case of a lease contract, a cancellation of all further payments you are otherwise required to make under the lease contract.
6. If your car is out of service to repair a problem for a total of fifteen days or more during the warranty period you are entitled to return the car and receive a refund of your purchase price or of all payments made under your lease contract, and of sales tax and fees, minus a reasonable allowance for any damage not attributable to normal usage or wear, and, in the case of a lease contract, a cancellation of all further payments you are otherwise required to make under the lease contract.

This is the perfect example of a car with great design but poor mechanics fixing it. I bought this car Sept. 2014 for a great price. I put 2g or more in parts and plenty of my time. I gave it to my son for getting back and forth to college in WV. I drove it 1200 miles this Saturday night from Brooklyn, NY to Castine, ME and back to NY with no problems. The car runs well and this post shows old Marauders can be worth the effort. Don't sell it short-fix it! I have had many items fixed on the Marauder.
Yes, This car had many factory flaws built in to it.
03- Rear Axles
03 -Paint
LCM
Radio tuning going out
Oil Filter Gasket
Rear Tires running flat in middle
BCM (Blower control Module)
Blend Door Actuator

Any more standard fixes?

others: Rear Differential ( because rear control arms bushings failed and
caused the differential to move.
Alternator
Rear Air Bags
Upper Control Arm Bushings
Upper Control Arms
Center console cover breaking - replacing- recovering

My car has 195,000 miles. It is parked outside in a very dusty area
of the San Fernando Valley. Yes it has scratches, and dings.
However, I would not trade it ever.

I would like a new low mileage Marauder though to supplement my
current and my MKS w/ Ecoboost.
