So this morning I am running out to do some errands, and I hop into my other car. My community has parking spaces, so basically I park right next to my MM, which is parked next to a curb that has some trees on it. The whole idea is to keep my MM safe.

So anyway I get in and take my hand off the door for a split second.

Big gust of wind hits, and takes the door like a sail. It flies open and before I can even think it's bouncing off the passenger door of my MM.

:bigcry:

Pull it away and a scuff/scratch about 4" long is on the side of my door.

:censor:

I did it to myself!

I got real lucky, it came out pretty easy I used some Mequiars Scratch-X to get it off.

Coulda been worse, it's long gone now luckily it didn't damage the paint more severly or worse dent or ding the door.

I've had it with this place, I can't stand parking spaces, I'm moving so I can have a driveway and maybe even a garage for the MM.

Might be able to find one of those sub prime mortgage meltdown foreclosures. I know VA has certainly had the house price run up in the past decade (yikes!).

That sucks! I've had that happen, except against a stupid pole at the gas station, luckily it wasn't my MM though.

Well, no more parking next to you at CAM meets. Too risky!! ;) Mike Poore is off limits too when tail in parking is used. :P

Sorry to hear this Mike ... I know that you are ALMOST as paranoid about dings on your MM as I am.

The wife took my MM to work on Friday so I could use hers to help the daughter move to a new place. I told her to park in the last row of parking away from her building entrance so that she wasn't in the "frequent" turnover spaces. I figured that would minimize the number of chances for a problem - even if it didn't eliminate the possibility all together. :o

Two summers ago I took my fully restored 63 corvette to the golf course I wanted to hit a few baskets of balls. This car I took care of like no other. I parked it off in the corner of the lot thinking it would be safe at the same time I could keep an eye on it. As I was working on the second basket I noticed A van pulled in and parked next to my car. Three people emerge father two daughters. Father slides open proceeds in removeing golf bags setting them up against my car. Yes you heard correct. I walked over took the bags gave them to each of them said please don't EVER do that.Twenty years ago I would have reacted different with no thought. Fortunate my car didn't suffer a scratch.

Yeah, I am pretty paranoid about dings/scratches, I've managed to do pretty well considering I live so close to the city. It's just so hard to keep cars nice up here, there's so many things going against a clean paintjob, whether it be rouge tow trucks, people who don't care about your car, less space, etc.

I was driving home the other night, not in the MM luckily, and a corrolla that was coming by me on the left decided my lane was better so they siganaled and proceed to attempt to ram me. I was amazed at the brazen stupidity. I had to slam the brakes and swerve to the curb to avoid being hit. Glad atleast one of us was paying attention. Glad it wasn't the MM, enough mental anquish for one weekend with the near miss on a bad door scratch to have to dodge n va drivers.

The good news though is that my Marauder is scratch free today, i will say the mequiar's Scratch-X did a great job, it was very easy to remove the scuff. It's odd, I really wasn't all that upset, I was kinda laughing at the wind catching the door. Yes I was pretty ticked but deep down inside it was hard to be upset when you do it to yourself!

In Northern Virginia ..... Corolla = Idiot and Corolla S = Stupid Idiot. I am truly amazed that these people with Corollas are competent enough to sign the paperwork to buy the car.

If I have offended anyone here who owns and drives a Corolla ..... you have my sympathies. This is just what I observe on the highways here in the Virginia, DC and Maryland area.

Damnit Charlie... I just got my Corolla out of the shop and now I am hesitant to drive it... I'll be looking for you on Route 1 in Woodbridge. The spoiler added like 1.8 HP...

You won't find me on Richmond Highway very often. US Route 1 is one of those schizophrenic roads. It is only "Richmond Highway" north of Fort Belvoir. South of Belvoir it becomes "Jefferson Davis Highway". Once it crosses the Occoquan River into Prince William, it is just "Jeff Davis Highway". Down here we get to call him by his nickname. ;)

Nice spoiler .... oughta be 6 inches higher for maximum effect. Can't wait to see your Corolla >before you see me<

Yup, I am aware of the name changes... It's always funnier to screw it up since I have to explain that quite often... By the way, if anyone ever sees me in anything remotely like that car... I expect to be thrown into the river as I will be, no doubt, past the point of no return.
