well, i work at a sales & marketing company on the 2nd floor of a 4 story building and we have our own decently sized parking lot. so, today, i get to work around 10am(late) and i decide to take my lunch early, around 12pm bc im starving. but when i get out to my car... i see that someones hit it! i park in the VERY back of the lot to avoid this very thing and i come out to it being damaged! :mad2::mad2:

its hard to make out how they actually hit me, but they damaged my rear bumper enough for me to know that its going to need to be entirely replaced. i immediately scoured both of our parking lots for a green car (since it left small traces of the color) and to no avail, i havnt been able to find anything with clear marks/heights where my damage is :bigcry:

now, ive never had a hit and run, so im not really sure what to do. i really want to run around the parking lot with my baseball bat making crazy noises, but thats pretty stupid. ive already called my insurance and im gonna get hit with a $250 dollar deductible (i can easily manage this, but as some of you may know, i dont have ANY mods on the car bc i always run into BS like this) for the whole repair but is there anything else i can do besides filing a police report? im guessing the person who fled has either A) not returned at all or B) not returned in the same vehicle. we dont have any cameras in the lot and no one has reported seeing anything. the pics are on my BB and ill be posting them up pretty soon.

i hate people. :flamer:

It stinks. Mine got keyed, which is even worse because there's no way it was accidental. For a cost reference, I just had my wife's rear bumper repaired and repainted. I removed and re-installed it myself. It cost $420 plus a new set of SSinserts. She has a problem with reverse. You should see what she did to my Exploder's rear bumper while her car was down and she was driving it. And it even has backup alarms!

Man, that really sucks!

Bumper repair/replacement will cost you at least $500, what knid of deductible you have on your insurance?

No, the repair and repaint was $420. I didn't replace it because it would have cost a lot more and it'll just be screwed up again eventually anyway.

On new years day a guy in a truck came thru and totalled 2 cars with a hit and run...if i still have the pics I will post them...One of the cars was my cousins and the police gave him a report number and some other bla bla bla...I called the station they said they didnt have that report on file...and he would have to file another report...So pending the repair cost...250 not bad...I take it that that is the COLLISION deductible?

Those pics I mentioned....

Humans are creatures of habit. Keep your camea handy and keep looking, particularly the same place and time.

If you find them you can approach as though they didn't realize there was damage and give them the option of paying. If they then deny report them to the police.

A person who I worked with backed into someonlse in the pl. Got out and saw there was dmg. She then took off. Next day a witness told her to apy the person whose car she hit or he was going to report her. She paid.

In the same pl on a dark rainy nite I backed into the same model car that
I was driving except hers was jet black. I also worked with her, went in and told her. I paid her and for the rental.

Sucks to get hit like that.
Someone hit the focus last week in door. Not too bad, but a nice dent in the door.

So....I must ask as you mentioned it....How exactly do MODS have anything to do with an insurance claim?

in other words, things i have no control over always set me back from getting the simplest of mods

Hmmm...rear bumper...that sux. Hopefully they won't have any problems finding an actual Marauder one (with lettering). I read somewhere here that those are becoming scarce.

I know the feeling though it wasn't in my marauder.
In my earlier years of college I was driving the van to school, and love to park and wait for a spot in the first one or two rows of parking to be close to the entrance, and one day after a long full day, I came back to my van to find a long dark scratch running almost 9/10ths of the drivers door (middle of the door) and pinching the front fender. Looks like someone thought they could fit into the spot in one shot and came up short all over my car. I wanted to unleash the beast on any black car with a ding I could find, but luckily I found none.

I :censor:-ing hate drivers my age. Oh and as for the Marauder, I park it across campus at the garage on one of the top most levels with a corner space. Many times between the staircase and a pillar.

I here ya. Just discovered a new scrape in my rear door last week. You could tell someone just let they're door just swing open like there wasn't a car next to it :mad2:. I make sure my doors do not hit the car next to me, why can't others execise the same curtesy?

Try coming into work early tomorrow and checking the buildings surrounding your parking lot for security cameras. If there's one facing the lot talk to the security guard and ask if you can see the tape that covers from the time you parked until you found the damage.
I hope you find the pos that did it.

I'll join the crowd. On Feb 16 I parked in a lot at Staples closer than usual because I nearly always go to the back of the lot. I came out and there is a big long mark across the bottom of both left door panels. Sometimes it's just marks and can be cleaned up. This time it's a long CREASE in the metal. Went to the insurance adjuster late last week to the tune of $853 repair (I have $200 deductible for hit and run). I take it into the shop this afternoon. They will take all the trim off both doors, repair the bottom panels, spray both doors, re-clear the whole left side and re-install all the trim. No note from the ********* in the parking lot. You could tell the person tried to pull into the slot on my left and sc***** their right front corner all down my left side.

Sorry to hear this, Jon. :( It is hard as H3LL to keep a car nice in the NoVa due to the sheer volume of A-holes that don't think or don't care. Sometimes I think that some "dirtbags" do it on purpose. Others are just incapable of driving any vehicle over the size of a Radio Flyer wagon. Just watch 'em go down the road ... you would think that they are maneuvering the Queen Mary or the Titanic. :sheesh: :P

Thanks, Charlie. Now, I hope the shop does a decent job for me. I hate to let her out of my hands this evening for several days. She's never been away from me before! While at the shop I asked how much to re-spray the hood because I have a couple of paint flaws from the factory that I just didn't have the energy to fight Ford about. Quote was about $700 so I passed for now. He says the hoods are hard to do on these cars because they are so large and flat and show any imperfections easily. To make it look right he would have to spray the nose and front fenders as well.

I take up 2 spaces sometimes...but I will park far away from a store or mall or where ever...When I first got my MM....I work in downtown DC...I park on East Capitol st. I purposely park behind the police on "duty." I came out from work one night and a volvo wagon was kissed right up against my car:mad2:. I knew it was one of the feds car...but I didnt feel like going thru the BS that the police was going to feed me...it left a mark but I think I covered it up when I got my eurotag. I think ppl do it out of spite...SOBs!

Just went through that last year because of shingle damage (pics in gallery) 1200 to fix the damage to hood, right front clip, right bumper corner and replace turn signal assembly. Ford dealer repaired and clear coated the whole front end. Took them a week but thedid a good job.

I feel your pain of having to leave it, but it's even worse having to look at it every day with the damage.

Good luck with the repairs

Thanks! She's in the shop now and I'm driving a (gulp!) Dodge Caliber - wow what a change. I'll think on the hood a little more and get it cleaned up at a later date. I hate looking at the flaws.
