I wanted to say thank you to all who have helped me the past couple days on the lock up of the marauder motor.... i heard from the dealership today saying that they just ordered a new replacement motor with 20,000 miles on it which is about 40,000 less than what i had, I hope i run into no more problems, but on a side note the dealer told me that they also ran premium in it, whether they are lying or not i have no clue and to top it off they even threw in a new rental car until mine was done free of charge, haha probably because i *****ed to high hell and back and even notified the vice president of the company but everything seems to be working out now, but i just wanted to say thanks to all whom have helped me over the past week

Sincerely
Anthony Mattingly

Congrats! 20K miles is nothing on this engine.

What was the cause of the lock up of the original engine?

4drpower
03-03-2008, 07:20 PM
hmmmmm still thinking they did not really explain it to me but the vice president called and said that the mechanic was doing a tear down on the motor, and he told the mechanic to just leave it alone we will just yank the motor out and order a new one with 20,000 miles on it and said "this kid has been through enough already lets get him taken care of" which kinda pleased me i for sure thought they were gonna give me some bull**** line on how it would not be covered or something to that effect

Man you came up...What kinda rental they give you...AND...make sure you keep the documents and everything...you know how the dealer like to "throw" stuff away...Happy Motoring...

Congrats, glad the dealer actually owned up to it and didn't leave you stranded. Make sure they put the Kooks back on and just don't put the stock manifolds on it. That happened to a friend of mine with a Mustang, had BBK's on it, blew the engine, dealer put a reman engine in it and left the stock manifolds on.

Right on man!

Keep the oil fresh, run premium, and womp on it from time to time!

Now then...

When you receive this replacement motor, listen for any ticking from the left side before you drive off with it.;)

good job..... if you cause a big enough scene in front of other customers they will do whatever it takes to get you to stop and not make them look bad!!

As soon as they put int he new motor, I guarantee they'll flash the ECU with the latest update from Ford. Before you womp on it, invest in an appropriate tune for the mods and then womp on it!

Try and get the valve covers! They are good to have when and if you(or someone else on the site) want to powdercoat:up:

"new replacement motor with 20,000 miles on it" = junkyard engine, are you getting any kind of a guarantee with that one?

ok the dealership called me today and said that the motor they found with 22000 miles on it was the wrong motor it was not the *HO* 4.6 i am freakin out that they are gonna put the wrong motor in it anyways is there anything that i can tell them to look for when ordering the motor for my car.... specs displacement, ANYTHING I would be so ****ing pissed if they put the wrong motor in there haha but they did lend me a 05 GTO to drive until mine was fixed ;) auto though still moves pretty good, they said " this is about the closest car we could find compribale to your car " spelling....*

WTF is a H.O. 4.6l? Are we going back in the day to H.O. 5.0's?? It's a 4.6l DOHC 32v, and make sure it's for a 2003-4 Mercury Marauder.

03-04-2008, 07:46 PM
There is a High Output 4.6 4v in 03-04???

Technically you could say it's from an auto Mach 1, but it is still different. And no, this is the only car that uses it. Although I have heard the Aviator's use the same, or similar DOHC.

4drpower;

In the FAQ section (found under quicklinks) is an engine sub-section that shows the P/N for a Marauder Motor to be
3W3Z-6007-AA.

There is another thread that mentioned Ford remanufactures some motors and that P/N may have a 6006 or an AARM in the mix. Good luck.

This had me thinking too.. I hope they don't try to give you a 4.6L SOHC out of a MGM or a CV. Make sure they're giving you the goods.

Also, thanks for your story, 4drpower. I was just on the fence last night about selling off the remainder of my warranty (fine print in the aftermarket Q Certified Warranty) to save me a grand to get a S/C. Your story reminded me that up until the day I void my warranty with a power adder, I don't want to risk the (up to) 10 grand motor on any defect.

Glad you're getting back up and running and get a rental to boot.

yeah they ****ed me..... you know what kind of car they gave me.... they said that they were gonna give me the black GTO they had down there, but they sold it a day prior and didnt know so i ended up with a mercury sable :( POS

I think he means for the rental... but maybe not..
I had to replace the motor in my marauder...
Insurance nightmare... there are no factory maruader engines available anymore. preticulalry if you have a 2004.
You best you can do is a mach 1 or a Lincoln Aviator motor. but neither will match serial numbers for the collectable car.
Rebuilding the motor properly is the only viable option.!!!!!

His motor wasn't defective. He mentioned Ford Racing UD's in another thread. Those (and probly bad gas) plus a good romping busted the oil pump - my guess.

Seems like an easy enough fix for a dealer... tell them to forget the replacement engine... to rebuild yours so everything goes correctly..... and you won't have to seee your engine end up in the dealships head mechanics car....(after a quick fix)

ok so the dealer gave me a copy of the ad that the previous owner had on autotrader... and this is what the comments said:
'03 mercury marauder 300B the vehicle is in prestine condition. It has soft leather interior "heated seats" a great factory Alpine stereo with 4 new alpine speakers and factory subwoofer, 6 disc trunk mounted changer etc.. The car has been modified slightly CORRECTLY & PROFESSIONALLY BY WELL KNOWN PERFORMANCE CAR BUILDERS. All work was performed by Kenny brown, pauls performance, and computer programming by Dennis Reinhart and Alternative Automotive.

MODS: Exhaust: kooks stainless steel longtube headers & X-pipe, magnaflow cats, magnaflow mufflers.

DRIVETRAIN: Ford racing 4:10 gears, SVO stud girdle,

SUSPENSION: addco rear sway bar

ENGINE: Steeda underdrive pulleys.

MISC: 180 degree thermostat, NGK TR6 plugs, high flow custom fuel filter with braided stainless lines, working autometer gauges (air/fuel ratio, oil temp, oil pressure, voltmeter... 2 in a pillar cluster, 2 in a center console)

stainless steel bumper inserts that read MARAUDER custom polished aluminum pedal covers, trunk organizer, sirius hear2anywhere satellite radio mounted on the dash which i will leave but cancel subscription,

TUNING: SCT 4 program reburnable chip with alternative automotive custom programming gets 20mpg.. you can keep these mods or remove them and have a bone stock marauder with no worries. honestly the car performs much better with the mods, and still is a perfect everyday luxurious driver. I am a professional educated executive, and the car has been treated very well and I am unaware of any mechanical or physical problems on this car...

THE END:.... so does this mean maybe thats why my car is fast and it the motor locked up on me????

A number of Marauder owners have had those mods for 50K, 75K and 100K w/ no engine lock ups.

until you know why the engine "locked up".. your just going to be assuming

BAD MERC
03-10-2008, 04:40 PM
Engines lock up from lack of lubrication. If you take out all the spark plugs and look into the cylinders with a borescope you can see if there is any top-end damage. Removing the oil pan will give away any reciprocating assembly damage. That's it. Take off the valve covers too see if the valvetrain took a crap. Engines are one of the most reliable forms of power. They don't just "die" without some advance notice.

Raudermaster
03-10-2008, 04:46 PM
They still haven't found one for you yet?

4drpower
03-10-2008, 07:21 PM
no reason yet.... but they did find the engine from a 03 marauder.... thats all i know so far and he said the engine was really clean that they got

Oil pump failures?

03-10-2008, 07:25 PM
from old motor or new one?

imorb1994
03-10-2008, 07:28 PM
have had 2 modular engines have oil pump failure and there wasn't any signs prior to it happening

4drpower
03-10-2008, 07:29 PM
i am clueless on how it happened and what actually happened

4drpower
03-10-2008, 07:31 PM
so with all those mods and everything listed about what ballpark hp rating am i looking at???? guesstimate

Raudermaster
03-10-2008, 07:52 PM
Probably in the region of 260-280rwhp.

sailsmen
03-10-2008, 07:56 PM
I think most oil pump failures on mod motors are due to pre-ignition reverbarating thru the crank.

I would have a dyno tune by a known Marauder tuner after they put the engine in before I did a WOT.

4drpower
03-10-2008, 08:08 PM
what about to the flywheel??? 300-350??

UncleLar
03-10-2008, 08:14 PM
At the flywheel a reasonable estimate would be at least 20-25% more then RWHP.

4drpower
03-10-2008, 08:16 PM
which is.... lol dammit i just know its stock 302hp at something haha i get all excited when minor things were done to see how it improved hp

Raudermaster
03-10-2008, 08:23 PM
That's 302 to the crank. With the mods you listed, probably 315ish to the flywheel.

4drpower
03-10-2008, 08:26 PM
so what are you thinkin to the crank haha

Raudermaster
03-10-2008, 08:43 PM
I said I think 315ish or so.
