Nice pics. Have you tried shooting at a smaller F stop to blur the background? The safety fencing takes away from the sharp Marauder.

Yeah aperture is still a bit of a mystery to me and the background (to be down right honest) sucked, but hey, they were just quick shots.

Since you were using your D80 in S for shutter priority you were controling the speed of the capture, if you had taken A instead and dialed in like 2.8 or 3.5 you might have had a better chance to blur the fence but keep the car sharp, and the sky in focus. It appears that you were using the 18 -70 3.5-4.5 f at about 60 and f10. Just pm me if you need any help.
Just a thought.

What model Nikon are you shooting?

Next time, with the sun in the back ground, shoot P mode and set your flash for 'SLOW' and adjust the flash rate with the +/- to -.3 and work your way down until the subject, the car, show truer color.

Otherwise, awesome composition and good eye.

CRUZTAKER, I am shooting with a D80. You have a good ida there, I just don't care for using the flash in those instances because of the reflection off of the markers.

Yeah...that is always an issue.

I use a speedlight 800 with a diffuser. The diffuser will help a bit with the sharpness, and clicking down the flash might help.

I shoot D80 as well.

Ever since I saw specs on the new D3 however...has me wishing it didn't cost as much as a blower. Being the D3 is the undiputed best low light camera in the world right now, I wonder if it would have pulled more silver out of the car?

Good stuff man...keep sharing.

I always thought we should have a photog forum on this site. Many other sites that we belong to have such forums and the main site has nothing to do with photog. :dunno:
