I posted the fuel filter change procedure on the MyMarauder.com wiki, including pictures. Please feel free to provide constructive feedback on both the procedure itself and the article layout, as I plan to use it as a maintenance template.

Veryy nice

wish I waited a day to change mine.

Also for the oil change part, try Autohow.tv they show a 4.6 mustang which is pretty close to ours and I used that as my guide to changing my oil, and also what I will use a guide for my UD pulleys.

So, if I hit the Fuel Pump off switch, how will it turn back on?

The fuel pump cut-off (a.k.a., impact sensor) is triggered on impact and designed to protect you during an accident. You can simulate the impact as I outline in the article (by giving the enclosure a swift smack with the base of your fist). Once it is tripped, you can re-enable the fuel pump by pressing the red button.

You can shut it off with the button, also.

BTW, don't forget to buy the little plastic thingey that compresses the fitting to remove the filter, and with the pump shut off, hit the starter to relieve the pressure in the fuel line.

Ask me how I know

You need to add shutting off the ride height compressor.

Are you sure you can shut it off with the button? Please confirm this, as I cannot seem to get this to work. I might not be pushing the button hard enough. Thanks!

Also, what plastic thing are you talking about?

Good point, will do. Thanks!

Can I ask why you need to trip the fuel pump cutoff?

I just relieve the pressure from the shrader valve and remove the filter.

I suppose that means I may have more fuel in the line when I remove it, but never really had a ton come out with the pressure relieved.

what plastic thing are you talking about? The MM fuel filter doesn't require any special tools. It uses a hairpin clip on each end that can be removed with a small flat-blade screwdriver. Just be careful not to break one as the clips supplied with most aftermarket filters are NOT the correct ones for the Marauder.

Can I ask why you need to trip the fuel pump cutoff? I wondered that, too. I've changed fuel filters on dozens of cars. I just let the car sit for a while and have never had fuel squirt at me...

If you happen to break one or both of the clips just file down the ones that come with the filter until they fit. They are only made out of plastic.

I disconnected the wire from the fuel pump shut off ran the car out of fuel then replaced the filter

No I'm not, since I never changed the one in the Marauder. In most Fords, though, the fuel pump cutoff is behind the kick panel on the passenger's side. The little plastic thing is a tool that's a 7/8ths dished circular affair that fits over the fuel line, and depresses the fitting that allows the filter to release from the fuel line. Bob says the MM uses a different system, and I can't speak to that, although I've only seen the compression fit ones. I know though, if there's fuel pressure, you ain't gonna get the damned thing apart.

It will come apart with the pressure actually helping to push it off, ask me how I know. Downside is you will be wearing a new cologne called "Octane" ;)

I don't understand why everyone is breaking these. Are you trying to PULL the clip out of fuel line fitting? It's called a PUSH RELEASE CLIP and requires only for you to push the clip. ;)

The factory recommended method is actually to pull the fuel pump relay. I just use the quick and dirty 'trip the sensor' approach. I'll update the wiki site accordingly and list the other recommendations as alternatives.

Updated to indicate that the air suspension should be shut off (a picture of the switch would be helpful if anyone wants to provide). Added factory recommended method for relieving fuel system pressure (the fuel pump relay position with picture would be nice). And, clarified that the push release clip should be pushed, not pulled... reminds me of Far Side's "Midvale School for the Gifted" comic.

I tested it out on my car, and from what I can tell, you cannot trip it by pressing the button. Anyway, I'll just call the method I mentioned my hack for not pulling the relay. The wiki now contains the factory recommended method. Thanks for your input!
