so i know this would usually be in the Lounge, but it is all about the Maruader... adn you guys get to help.
my band is a funk/hard rock/metal band ( think Extreme, Living Colour, Faith No More) that is currently writing a whole new batch of originals after the fallout of the last lyricist.... both the guitarist(my brother) and I own Marauders and have found so do many of our friends... so i had an idea
i want that song, that when i place it in my Marauders CD player, amke me want to drive the car even more.... you know, that cruising song. it can make you want to go fast and feel like you have the world by the balls or just enjoy being in the car. i have my "driving" song but i want one for my marauder.
any ideas on how the song should be worded or lyrics that you guys would like to see let me know. it will have an upbeat tempo, with a killer groove in it.

Lonestar is country but they have a song called "What about now" that has the lyric in it......"a four hundred horsepower jukebox on wheels" I used it for the 2006 Louisville video and it was a good fit.

Two songs i could put on repeat and drive 130 down the highway to are:
Lara Fabian's "I will love again". Good introspective lyric, long runs and upbeat tempo (esp dance version).
Erasure's "Golden Heart". Again with a good, somewhat emotional lyric, long runs, upbeat tempo and happy feeling.
Of course, for short courses, there's AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" and for 1/4's there's all kind of high energy stuff.
When you talk about the Marauder in it's comfort zone of eating long stretches of asphalt at a ridiculous rate, the above allow me concentration, positive vibes and a strong, but smooth-edged beat.
You are gonna get some diverse answers to this one. I can't wait to hear what you come up with!!!
Good luck!

Ok, so I am sitting in my global media class and I am bored, so I figured I would give this a shot, probably nothing good, but figured why not:

look'n left, look'n right, revving up, hit the stall, 1st 2nd, my rauder hits the mac (i.e. tarmac) and I get a stack (i.e. won the race!
Running slow, motor begs to go, ass back out, my rauder gives a shout.
Chirp in first, give it a burst (nos), spinning in second...
you pull up reving, my rauder just chilling... you hit the gas, I hit my stall, you look so small, running in my rear view mirror, you look like a shimmer...

4 on the floor, or 3 on the tree,
youll be nowhere but behind me
smell the rubber burning,
hear the engine whine,
the more throttle you give, the more power you'll find?
idk guys, im just spoutting of words lol.... what do you think make it a song about the power of our cars, take the approach of making it a sleeper(i.e it just prowls around waiting for a race) ??

"She's real fine my 409"
"Barracuda"
"Little GTO"
"Mustang Sally" (song sucked)
"Road Runner - Road Runner" runnin' faster miles and hour, with the radio on... Wasn't that Johnathan Richmond? I love that song. Motorhead 350 would know.

Hey, that's good! It needs a heavy beat like the one on Paul's video. That was way cool. :)

Country singer Alan Jackson (and a few other singers) recorded a hit song called "Mercury Blues" a few years ago...
'twas a pretty good video, too...
"Gonna buy me a Mercury and cruise it on down the road..."

^^^ As soon as I heard about the Marauder a few years ago, this song popped into my head. Very fitting!
Here's some hot-roddin' tunes: http://www.moparts.org/moparts/picture/cartunes/index.html
My personal Marauder Mix is something like:
La Grange by ZZ Top
Hot Rod Lincoln by Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen
Black Sunshine by White Zombie
Fuel by Metallica
Bad to the Bone by George Thorogood
Black Betty by Ram Jam
Low Rider by War
Born to Be Wild by Steppenwolf
Ride of the Valkyries by Richard Wagner
Song 2 by Blur
The Distance by Cake
Around the World by Red Hot Chili Peppers
To answer the original question about what should go in a Marauder song, I think the bassline should be very organic, like rhythmic blood-pumping, i.e. The Distance by Cake or the Knight Rider theme, because any car enthusiast feels like their car is "alive". I've never been much for too much guitar shredding or screeching vocals, and they would remind me of a Honda Civic before a Marauder.
As for the lyrics, the imagery should remind me of the Marauder, but just as easily a stealth aircraft. The first time I listened to Wabash Cannonball (Johnny Cash's version), I was distracted and only heard bits of it, and from those bits, I thought he was talking about a famous drag car or something, and not a flying train full of dirty hobos (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wabash_Cannonball#Origins). I wouldn't mention anything too specific, just so the song can apply to a large audience. I think an Impala SS driver should be able to identify with it just as well as an MM owner.
Just my $.02..
