HELLO I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE OUT THERE HAD ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR A GOOD PAIR OF SHOCKS WITHOUT ROBBING MY POCKETS?? THE REASON I THINK I NEED SHOCKS IS BECAUSE, I HAVE A ONGOING LEAK FROM THE REAR DRIVER SIDE BEHIND THE TIRE. I TOOK IT IN FOR A LOOK AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS MY BRAKE CALIPER, SO I ORDERED A NEW ONE INSTALLED IT, GOT NEW TIRES WITH ROAD FORCE BALANCE AND I STILL HAVE A LEAK. ALSO WHEN I PULL OFF I GET A KNOCKING FEELING COMING FROM THAT SAME REAR SIDE AND WHEN I GET ON THE HIGHWAY AND DRIVE IT SOUNDS LIKE I'M RIDING ON THE RIDGES ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE REAR END VIBRATES. I LET GO OF THE WHEEL AND THE CAR RIDES IN A STRAIGHT LINE ITS JUST NOISEY AND IT VIBRATES DOES THIS SOUND LIKE THE SHOCKS TO ANYONE? ALSO HAS ANYONE HAD THIS PROBLEM?

Monroe from Innovative Interceptors or Reinhart Automotive.

Are you sure it's the shock that's leaking and not your axle seal? With the vibration you describe, it may be your axle bearings are bad and your one seal has started to leak.

I had the axle bearings and shafts replaced when I got the car due to a rear vibration, and then I had to have the seal changed twice again (for a total of three times) to get one that didn't leak.

Vibrations come from something spinning...shocks just transfer the vibration...

Look at what Wires^^^ said...

Soft axle syndrome??? Do you have an early A???

Ooh. I didn't read it all due to the YELLING!!!!

Sounds like a bad axle seal due to rear axle TSB coupled with a nearly empty diff from the long-term leak.

SB about $250 for the TSB kit, $300 for labor and $10 each for 2 bottles of Redline diff oil. Throw the crap a$$ oil and friction modifier from the kit away!

You may also have clutch issues in the diff if it's been running almost dry.

SORRY TO BOTHER YOU GUYS AGAIN, BUT IM NEW TO THE WHOLE CAR THING BUT IS THAT A SET PRICE AT THE DEALERS FOR THE TSB KIT AND LABOR? SINCE ITS A COMMON PROBLEM OR DOES IT VARY? DO I HAVE TO PURCHASE THE KIT FROM THE DEALER OR CAN I FIND IT ONLINE SOMEWHERE??:bigcry:

THAT'S THE SAMETHING THAT I SAID HOW CAN YOU CONFUSE A BRAKE CALIPER LEAKING FROM THE REAR END THAT'S NONSENSE:mad2:AND TOTALLY UNNESSISARY:mad:

Dude,
You're killin me. Stop using all caps. It's like impossible to read. Aslo, in the electronic communication world, it is meant to be yelling.

Both prices are guesstimates as to what you should pay. Pricing may vary around the country. There are several vendors here who can get teh kit for you. Ray the Dealer, Adamski, and Reinhart come to the top of my head.

The tell-tale sign will be gunky oil caked inside your rim.

Good luck.

I put oem rears on a few months ago, they were 120 pr., is that significantly more than Monroe?

'bout the same.

Glad I went to Monroes, though, cuz they are shaft up and I cut off the dust boot for tire clearance.

Yes they actually are a lot cheaper than the oem shocks! I found them for $27 each on rock auto that was the cheapest I found them for. I have yet to install them though due to all my other problems!!!

I believe Magindat cut his cover because of the width of tires he is running. PM him for more details before you cut them.;)
