I see a lot of adds on E-bay for window regulators, is this a part that breaks often, and how hard is it to replace? probably the thing I wonder the most is how hard is it to remove the door panel.

From a speaker install thread removing the door panel is simple. I have yet to get use to ebay so I am not sure why or who is selling the regulators.

Which windows are giving you trouble?

None yet Roy, but from the amount of regulators for sale on E-bay, I would think that they are breaking often. Just want to be prepared when it happens.

From what I've seen, the 92-97 models had troubles with them going bad. have not seen many 03-04s done through the OASIS reports.

It's fairly common with age, motors, regulators,if moisture gets them, their not to bad to replace.

Silicone spray in the window channels keeps the stress off the regulators and motors.

From my days working at FORD I always use mini vent window lube into the window runs. It was made by FORD many years ago to lubricate the power sliding front door vents windows. Dry window runs or channels are the #1 cause of broken regulators. Use it at every oil change. With 3 GMs I have never replaced a broken cable regulator.

Instead of buying the bushing repair kit I just replaced them with some small nuts, I think they were 3/16. Apparently that was a common problem with those motors, and I am glad I found that out instead of buying whole new motors.

What can I use to lubricate the channels if I have tinted windows?
