My A/c works fine and kicks out cold air. The problem I'm having is that it seems to always blow out of the defrost vent. I will get a little pressure coming out of the dash vents, floor vents, etc.... when I set them on that setting. The majority of the air is always coming out of the defrost no matter what setting it is on. Any insight would be great. Thanks...

I think the verdict is....The blend doors?

Yep, had the same problem after letting someone install speaker level to RCA converters behind my radio, they jammed the doors half closed.

Blend door or vacuum leak.

:shake: I had this EXACT problem the first week of owning my 03 marauder. It did exactly what you are describing!!!! The Vacuum control module (VCM) went bad they replaced it and everything was back to normal. No problems since Lucky though it was under warranty. It would of coast me 750.00 including labor at the Mercury dealership to fix it.
I bet that is what your problem is…!
GOOD LUCK !

So I guess first step is to remove radio and look at the doors. If the doors aren't stuck or locked in a position, where can I find the VCM. I haven't done any work under the dash so I would think it has to be the module or a leak.

Sounds like you need a shop manual.

It's most likely the control unit - there are valves inside with o-rings that go bad.
The blend doors are way behind the dash. I looked in the manual for instructions to change the defrost vacuum motor for the defrost blend door. The first instruction is: Remove dash.
There is a vacuum reservoir, but the vacuum line goes from the intake through the firewall to the a/c head unit. I've read some posts on here about replacing the o-rings, but I had my ace Ford mechanic replace my control unit with one he had already re-built.

I do need a shop manual. waiting for one to pop up on ebay.... I'm gonna go through all of the easier option first and then start digging into the hard crap when I have a long weekend. It still blow cold so I'm not really stressing. When you say he rebuilt the control unit, do you mean he pulled it apart and replaced misc o-rings and such? Or did he have to replace the valves? If so is there an overhaul kit available somewhere, or did he just measure out the orings and find replacements? Any links anyone knows of would be great.

Got the EATC control module fixed with the great article by JACook. Had to spend $5 on o-rings and spend a half hour fixing it but definitly better than $600 for a new module from the dealer. The parts guy told me I was stupid for listening to internet rabble and that there were no o-rings that could be replaced inside the EATC controller. Last time I go to Karl Flammer Ford for anything. SCUMBAGS!
If anyone in the Tampa Bay area has an issue with the AC controller I would be more than happy to help and I still have 96 more o-rings if anyone needs 4 of them.
