Have an interesting tale (Tail pipe) to share...
While cruising peacefully down the streets last week...
Car freshly washed and showing well... I observed another shiny black car coming up fast.
I am in the left lane, he in the right. clearly a fellow looking for some sort of challenge from me. I watched as he drew near... its a monte carlo SS dual exhaust, likely stock. 40 something man, little grey hair.
So we are now side by side climbing the RR bridge.
I am in 4th driving like the poster child for safety.
I pressed the OD button and gained a little authoritive sound...He noticed.
We crested the hill and were in a steep decline, he thought maybe now is his chance... I pulled it into 2nd and let the back pressure do the talking. Game over....Clearly didnt like the sound of that!! he took the first right and dissapeared into the sunset.
Never went over the speed limit.
Chalked one up for the Marauder and moved on.
The sound of her sent him packing. Good thing...them montes are too much for a stock MM.

Are the newer Monte SS's supercharged?

Stock vs stock a Monte would beat a marauder?

I believe the 2004/2005 SS's were supercharged (3.8L V6). Then for 06/07 they switched to a non supercharged 5.3L V8. Either way, its pretty stiff competition for us.

Not really, with my tune, exhaust/CAI I took a S/C'ed '03 Monte Carlo SS, was the "Intimidator" edition:shake:. Even the new 5.3's are nothing to gloat about. Kid at school has an SS Impala and I can tell you I've beaten him more than once.

I sure hope you can beat a car that has 100 less horsepower than you. The regular 3.8 is 200 hp.

The new monte's are really nothing specail, the SS is probably the same as the impala SS, which runs 14.5 on the 1/4th.

An intake and tune could get an MM to that speed.

It's also about the good old "power to wieght" issue
.
Side note, is it just me or does anyone else think the Monte is butt ugly.

GM has done nothing but bastardize all their old car lines....what can you say? The GTO has grown on me and I actually like the new Camaro design. Other than that...I think FoMoCo has done a much better job of keeping their classic lines alive (or at least re-invigorating them correctly for a short time). ;) The Marauder could've been great for awhile...if not for little marketing and a bit steep on the price.

I thought the SS's ran the stock vette motor?

HA! If they did, I'd probably be driving one. You're thinking of the older '94-'96 Imp SS. They had the stock LT1 'Vette motor.

Although the mighty Marauder is a fine ride, with the power to amaze many people, the 96 Impala SS is as impressive. I have 5 Impala SS's, and can say that there is only a slight chance that stock vs stock, it would be hard pressed to beat the SS. The SS will get the MM out of the hole, then the MM will gain strong, but the outcome will be the SS by a car length. Impressive is a word for both cars. Just know your competition.
