other than i would be illegal and unsafe.
If i was to try to top out the car once, maybe 150mph with a stock driveshaft would it mess up the tailshaft or anything else? i have read that they are balanced to handle 120mph right? no?
let me know.

I've had mine up to 140mph with no issues...

I think the general consensus will be it might damage something. A quick one time run up to top speed may not damage anything, but if you are looking at extended high speed operation it probably will break something.
Get together with a local car group and get to a track day so you can do this safely and in a controlled setting.

The FHP w/ the stock gears, no rev limiter and the trans tail shaft wobbled out of the housing on several units.
They then went w/ a stronger drive shaft.
Balance a Banana and it's still a Banana.

I went 136 with no problems and all I had at the time was a tune and air filter.

This ^^^ IS true (Jarod), but NOT at 150mph!!!
I'am not concerned about breaking things (trans), so much...It's the possibility of killing yourself in the process, that got me worried!
Have you seen what happens when the tail shaft or front of the drive shaft fails, and drops the (front) drive shaft to the ground, at that speed (any speed for that matter)???
Not pretty, and FATAL!!!
We've lost far too many good people already...
Saftey first!

Do a search for the old driveshaft threads...
Dennis had a really good technical discussion on the harmonics of a driveshaft and how bad an OEM driveshaft will bend and wobble at high speeds...even if it is balanced.
(As sailsman said: a balanced banana is still a banana!)
A lonnnnng driveshaft like a Marauder's needs to be:
1: Strong and rigid
2: As light as possible

Yep.... that's how the long shaft stays stable alright.....

I went 140mph for about 5 min in my old 99 crown vic P71 and I **** myself.
It gets VERY scary once you pass the 110mph mark. !!
The fastest I have went in my marauder was 118mph and then the limiter kicked in.
Today I just finished installing Reinharts Dynotech Driveshaft and his X CAL 3 tune. I did the driveshaft with the tune just to be safe. Don’t take any chances with your marauder.
O and good luck while your doing 150 its some scary ****!

Have a few, get a buddy to video(meathead would be a good choice) and give yourself a chance to make the Darwin awards. Try to do where you 2 are the only dummies in danger, please. :stupid:(works for you both, a double header) Dennis

i had the car to 130 the other day just playing to see if the speed limiter really was gone, it didnt take nothing to do it, and if you guys thing 150 in a car is another world, try 155 on a crotch rocket!
when you go that fast there isnt any sound!
i know im nuts, but after i did that on they bike, i never felt the need to do it again, like i got my fix.
Also i took a 350z for a ride when they first came out, and it will do 160 factory stock.

I was once toying with a twin turbo Supra, 139, he pulled away so fast, I thought that my car stalled. Oh, BTW, that was my mildly:D tuned LT1 Impala that had happened in. There is still a trooper looking for that car;) in another state. I saw 150 a couple of times in it, don't need to be doing that again.

While I agree Hotrauder's post was hilarious...I'm surprised to find such objection to using a muscle car as a muscle car...and giving it a serious beating. ;) Although I will say...having hit the +150 myself in an '86 Mustang GT that hadn't had it's control arms, etc. upgraded from stock yet (just an really hot bored/stroked 302 w/ a 355 gear)...it was REALLY hairy...and quite scary. ...but then again..the car wasn't built up to stay on the road...and didn't have the weight that a good 'ol Marauder has. ....don't ask how we knew we were going that fast (has something to do w/ an officer falling further behind @ 130). ;)

Lets just say a member here has a serious smile across his face from the experience :D

Oh top speed blasts without me!!! My friend Damon and I had his T-bird SC out last night and I have never seen a car go from 80 to 145 that fast before. His car is all top end especially with ported heads, intake, blower and a wicked cam. :D
We had 4 lanes wide open on the Northern state at around 3am last night.

Had a MB push me today, wife and kids in the car, high speed roll on to 110, wife and kids never even looked up from their books to see who was nipping at the top carnivore.

Fix it or buy a new one from Dennis.
Then you never have to worry.
