Well, I'm happy to say that my Trilogy fund finally reached it's critical mass, and I went ahead and ordered the base Eaton kit from Jerry.
Since I live on the Canadian west coast near Vancouver, going to see Lidio isn't really an option, but I do have his base Trilogy tune in my Xcal2 ready to go.
I'll be doing a self install while down in Oregon doing some volunteer work at at a ranch that rescues abused horses, and has a program that allows abused kids in to help rehabilitate and socialize the horses. Any animal lovers/parents out there, buy the book "Hope Rising" by Kim Meeder, it's the story of the ranch. Don't like it? Send it to me and I'll buy it back from you!! Profits go to the ranch. (...stepping down off my soapbox...)http://www.motorcitymarauders.com/forums/images/smilies/redface.gif
I do have good back-up, as one of my friends down there deals with a great shop...the owner has a newer GT-40 and lots of other toys! I'll try to get some video, and will definitely get photos! I'm hoping for a dyno tune to fine tune a bit, as the generic tune Lidio gives is VERY safe to account for various production variables from car to car.. And a neighbour here has the newest (and last) SVT rig, the GT500. We've arranged to go for a run or two.http://www.motorcitymarauders.com/forums/images/smilies/up.gif
So why did I post this in the Garage forum? Well, a far better way to add power is to take weight away from your rig. Let's face it, more power only benefits acceleration and top end, but it also overstresses the stock brakes, stock suspension, and cooling. Taking weight away benefits brakes, cooling, handling AND acceleration. With this extra power, I'm looking at all options for more balance BESIDES the usual suspects (big brakes, Naakes, Griffen rad)
To that end, I'm looking to start a post (possibly a sticky if it's warranted) about shaving the pounds off our porky Panthers!http://www.motorcitymarauders.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif
In addition to using easy solutions, I'd like to make some more involved things as well. With the obvious weight reduction from things like an gel battery (eg Optima) a mini spare as opposed to full size, minimal trunk crap, I'm very interested in fabbing some aluminum parts if weight savings are worth it.
Does anyone have access to factory parts for a weight check? A very popular thing in drag racing is to use aluminum bumper mounts/braces/inserts. Anyone have exploded diagrams of the front/rear bumper assemblies they can send me?
I know autocrossers who've swapped their factory steel nuts/bolts throughout the car to aluminum pieces, with as much as 80 pounds in savings, but it's not that cost effective so it's last on the list.
Any other ideas, please let me know!
Hopefully, I'm not violating any board policy about mentioning other vendors? For what it's worth, I do have a DR chip in my CVPI winter car!
