Hey guys,

My name is Eric and I just purchased a 2004 Black on grey leather Mercury Marauder. I think I got a deal as the car looks brand new, no scratches etc, and the test drive was very smooth and power was good.

There was a slight surge of rpms when i accelerate hard and then press the brake slightly or get off the gas. My friend says his explorer does it and maybe its normal. I am taking it to a transmission guy for a second opinion while I am still under warranty from the dealer. If any one knows anything about this please repy.

Previous cars I have owned in the past - Mazdaspeed Protege, it was my first car give me a break. Car was nice for what it was, but not sporty in the least. WRX, my favorite car, AWD turbo 5spd whats not to love?

Then 2 summers ago I bought a 1996 Firebird Formula WS6. The car was cherry with only 25k miles, but it was sitting for 2 years and I am STILL in the process of getting it to work.

So now I am looking at a Marauder, and it seems sweet.

The dingleberry who previously owned it tried to make it look like a cop car with a silly antena on roof, and put a laughable kenwood sound system in it. So I will be ripping all that stuff off.

He also but headers and what appears to be exhaust KOOKS headers and brandnew pipelines/mufflers - the car is way too loud for my taste. I am not a fan of exhausts in automatics as the drone drives me nuts.

But the car overall is very nice. I will be looking forward to reading up on what you guys are up to and getting a feel for the Marauder community.

Thanks,
Eric

Keep the headers!!! just change the mufflers and extend the tips out about an inch past the bumper...that will help with the drone. If you want to change the headers put me first in line to aquire them from you.

Eric,

Welcome to the site,

Sell me your headers/exhaust, or better yet, I'll swap you for a stock set-up. I think noise is good!:D
